According to the online "Wikipedia": In Japan the turkey is called "shichimenchou", in Korea "chilmencho" which is translated as "seven-faced bird" because of the ability of the bird, especially the male one, to change the form of the face depending on its mood.

Based on my quick research, the name SHICHIMENCHOU (seven-faced bird) is from the fact that the turkey's crown or neck or both (?) change into different colors like red, blue, white, purple, etc. I've never seen a turkey with a purple crown, so I'm not sure... If anyone has more information on this subject, please let us know.
