先日、YouTube版の炉心融解がありがたいことに1500万再生に到達しました。よい機会かなと思ったので、ずっと下書きのまま塩漬けになっていたものに加筆して流したいと思います。 VOCALOID（鏡音リン）楽曲の「炉心融解」について、さすがに初版の公開から17年近く経つと、良くも悪くもいろいろな解釈が生まれており、私個人としてはとても興味深く感じています。 過去にチラッとお話はしたことがありますが、集まって打ち合わせや企画をしたわけでもなく、作詞担当・作曲担当・アートワーク担当が独自の解釈で作品に関わっていて、かつお互いにほぼ干渉もしないまま完成したという経緯があります。制作関係者の総意として統一されたコンセプトがあるわけでもない、という特異な状況でした。 これも過去に少し触れましたが、流れとしては歌詞（ほぼ内容そのままのニュアンス）→作曲（歌詞は強烈だが、全体を通して温度感はなるべく一定に保ちたかった）→アートワーク（楽曲単体では重過ぎるため、ある種の救いを含ませた）という感じです。 また、核融合炉は基本的に炉心融解しないという点――曲名と歌詞フレーズとの矛盾は公開当初から指摘されていましたが、当時の主要制作関係者の知識不足のため修正に至ることはありませんでした。未だに「？」と思う方がいるのは至極当然だと思います。 そういった矛盾点や、非常にデリケートな単語・語句を作中表現として用いた作品が、それでも今なお多くの方に愛されているのはとても嬉しいと同時に、より責任感を持って自分の生み出した作品に向き合っていく必要があると改めて感じました。 炉心融解という楽曲は、聴く方によって本当にいろいろな解釈があると思います。楽曲とどのように出会ったのか、楽曲単体で聴くのか、MV込みで視聴するのかなど、様々な要素が絡み合って解釈はだいぶ変わると思っています。最終的に完成して作品となったものに含まれているのは、過去との決別やモラトリアムのような「フィーリング」（あえてこの書き方にします）ではあります。しかし、この17年間で見てきた皆さんの反応や感想から私が感じたのは、どうやら「それ」に引っ張られずに独自の役割を見つけて（くれて）いる方が本当に多い、ということでした。これについては多くを書くべきではないとも思いますので、これ以上のことは書きません。 最近知って聴き始めてくれた方、シンプルに好きで聴き続けてくれている方、聴くことに辛さを感じても聴き続けてくれている方、良くも悪くも楽曲が自身の中で果たしていた役割を終えて離れていく方。様々な方を見てきました。そして、いずれもとても大切に思っています。 この作品を世に放ってから、今年の12月で丸17年になります。私もさすがにそれなりに歳を重ねました。100％当時のままの感性でこの作品と向き合い続けることは難しいと感じています。ですが、世に生み出したことの責任と自覚をしっかり持ち、命ある限り作品を守り続けていきたいと思っています。

[EN] The other day, the YouTube version of "meltdown" mercifully reached 15 million views. I thought this would be a good opportunity to add to a draft that had been sitting there for a long time and release it. Nearly 17 years have passed since the initial release of the VOCALOID (Kagamine Rin) song "meltdown," and as expected, many different interpretations have emerged, for better or worse, which I personally find very fascinating. I've mentioned this briefly in the past, but we didn't get together to discuss or plan anything. Rather, the lyricist, composer, and artwork designer all contributed their own interpretations to the work, and it was completed with almost no interference from each other. It was a unique situation in which there was no unified concept agreed upon by all involved in the production. I've mentioned this briefly in the past, but the general flow was lyrics (the nuance was almost the same as the content) → composition (the lyrics are intense, but I wanted to keep the tone as consistent as possible throughout) → artwork (the song itself was too heavy, so I incorporated a kind of redemptive message). Furthermore, the fact that nuclear fusion reactors generally do not meltdown—a contradiction between the song title and the lyrics—was pointed out from the beginning, but due to a lack of knowledge among key production staff at the time, it was never corrected. It's only natural that some people still find this confusing. I'm incredibly happy that a work that contains such inconsistencies and uses extremely sensitive words and phrases is still loved by so many people, but it also reminds me that I need to approach the work I create with a greater sense of responsibility. I think the song "meltdown" can be interpreted in many different ways depending on who listens to it. I think interpretations vary greatly depending on how you first encountered the song, whether you listen to it on its own or with the music video, and many other factors. The final finished work contains a "feeling" (I'm deliberately using this term) of a break with the past and a sense of moratorium. However, based on the reactions and impressions I've received over the past 17 years, I've learned that there are many people who have found their own unique role for the song without being drawn to "that." I don't think I should write much about this, so I won't say any more. I've seen all kinds of people: those who recently discovered it and started listening, those who continue to listen because they simply love it, those who continue to listen even though they find it painful to listen to it, and those who, for better or worse, have moved on because the music has fulfilled the role it had played within them. And I cherish them all. This December will mark 17 years since I released this work into the world. I've aged quite a bit, of course. I find it difficult to continue to approach this work with 100% the same sensibilities as I did back then. But I am fully aware of the responsibility and responsibility I have for having created something, and I intend to continue to protect this work for as long as I live.
