ambassadors / consuls general and other consular officers in the US can freely meet anyone from pro-CCP / united front groups on American soil, but on Sep 24, state-owned Hong Kong newspaper Wen Wei Po published two articles lashing out at US Consul General in Hong Kong Julie Eadeh after she met pro-democracy figures Anson Chan and Emily Lau during receptions hosted by the US Consulate General on Sep 19 and 22 respectively (left pics).
The two articles were immediately shared on the website of Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the CPC Central Committee / Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council on the same day.
Cui Jianchun (崔建春; right pic), Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, urged Eadeh to refrain from interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs when she paid a courtesy call on him on Sep 23.
