>>108571 (OP)> >never watching any new anime again because you know for a fact that you've already seen the best onesI detect that with "any new anime" you mean "any other anime, anime that'd be new to me" — however if we read "new anime" as meaning newly made, then in that sentence you have the whole anime situation (the traditional anime era ending, the nuanime era beginning) of ~20 years ago summed up: that's basically what it was like; it was obvious anime had already reached its greatest possible heights; the best stuff already existed and clearly nothing would ever be able to top it, and new anime was just getting worse and worse and worse, and it was downright painful trying to watch anything new.
In the quote I left out "watching a few shows" THOUGH because one didn't just watch a few great shows then remained content with that, and gave up on anime just because new anime sucked, but rather one tried to see as many good animes as one could find – and with new anime going downhill one was left with no other choice but to search more and more through the stuff that'd been made in the decades prior, which became a lot easier to do thanks to anidb.
