Witchhunts for thought crime and worshipping a podcaster as a deity don't seem like Moderate Center actions to me.

This is exactly what pissed me off about the aftermath of Kirk. The right was calling to make the media accountable while the left was celebrating a man's death. I was disagreeing with almost everything being said. I agree that the media probably played a part that led to the assasination but I don't advocate for forcing them off. Sure, if a private company wants to fire an employee for it, that's also fine (including news and tv) but to ask for government action, that's not what I fought for. We want small government. People have the right to be fooled by the media. Unfortunate but that's what free speech entails. I don't want anyone, right, left or even center to determine what is truth. That is something for each of us to determine. That being said, I don't necessarily think it has swung too far right, yet. At least as far as I can tell, the right wasn't successful in anything extreme and mellowed down this week. Besides, the pendulum can't swing that far that fast. It will take time but it will happen, natural order of things.

… just let politics go … we don’t have any control over it. We raise our voices higher than those that we disagree with, but in the end … none of this should be In entertainment anyways. It just dries up creativity 🤷🏻‍♂

Because of the reaction, there will need to be a correction and probably a "Paint Charlie Kirk Day," like in the days of old. He was a man, a husband and a father. It's sad and messed up. I'd like to tone down the rhetoric, but you know what happens to the sacred cows, right? Deifying George Floyd didn't stop the George Droid Fent Reactor memes or games. I remember "I (Plane) NY" t-shirts and bumper stickers back in the day, and it's starting to make a comeback. People are assholes, and the youth in particular find it funny because of the reaction it gets. You can't police other people's speech like that. I don't want to have to defend ghouls celebrating.

There's no moderate centre in American electoral politics. No culture war issue reads as important. Economic inequality and workers rights VS the owner class is the whole ball game. Left and right can unite on that. Everything else, let people be

everything is moving left. trump, a new York Democrat, convinced conservative republicans that every democratic position from 1990 is now somehow not big government Democrat policy positions. a moderate right position from 10 years ago 100% seems extreme right now. anyone who thinks charlie kirk was extreme right is out of their mind. he was the most middle of the road, milqutoast republican on the college circuit.

the most devious & successful thing the far-right has done in the past 10 years is convince ppl that its extreme positions are moderate & common sense

I used to be within that mindset, they were truly salivating at the thought of getting to do this stuff back at the people who did that exact stuff to then over the last decade or so, and that’s exactly what’s happening now that the ball is finally in their court. Cycles don’t break by enacting everything bad done to you, they break when one side finally decides to be the bigger person and stop with this petty BS. That being said, the left wing cancel pigs were genuinely evil people who wanted their detractors dead. These pop-conservatives just like to laugh at people they disagree with getting fired.
