The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) has announced the revocation of prestigious national science and technology awards previously granted to five individuals after investigations revealed violations of law, discipline, and academic integrity.

According to the official statement, Zhou Xinyuan, recipient of the 8th China Youth Science and Technology Award, and Chen Zheyu, winner of the 10th edition of the same award, were found to have committed violations of discipline and law. Meanwhile, Sun Beicheng (11th awardee) and Zhao Yuanjin (17th awardee) were cited for research misconduct. Liu Jianni, who won the 11th China Young Women Scientist Award, was also found to have engaged in academic misconduct.

CAST emphasized that the actions of the five awardees had been addressed by or reported to the relevant authorities. To safeguard the credibility, authority, and seriousness of national science honors, the organization has formally revoked their awards, including the retrieval of medals, certificates, and monetary prizes.

“The integrity of science and technology awards must be preserved to inspire future generations of researchers,” CAST stated.
