Jim is a dying man where he doesn't have much time left in the world and last I heard his condition has gotten worse so he's now mostly spending time with friends and family until he finally kicks the bucket.
I don't really care if he is grifting with religion. In anything, I don't think he is grifting with religion at all. If Jim really wanted to grift with religion then he would've done this in his younger years rather than on his death bed (because money is useless to you when you're dead, it's only useful to you when you're alive).
How do you turn an atheist into a true believer? When people who were never religious in most of their life to begin with and when they're on their death bed, they turn to religion for comfort.
Nobody really knows what happens after we die. Is there an afterlife? Do we reincarnate? Or is it just light's out? Nobody knows for sure. It's the fear of the unknown that is naturally found in everyone. If we cannot understand something then we fear it because we don't know if it can hurt us or not.
Everyone has to go sooner or later. When you're young you think you have forever, you don't have forever. Make the most out of your life because you never know if tomorrow will be your last. No one escapes death, everyone has to exit the stage eventually.

At first it was heartbreaking, but now it's like it wouldn't have mattered at all if he announced it because he's still doing what he's been doing even before the hospital visits and stent.
I'll admit, I stopped paying attention to Metokur after that big hospital announcement stream he did way back because I thought for sure he was going to go off the grid while he focused on his health, especially since he nuked all of his shit.
