A new name has entered Australia’s home-building industry, but its leadership is anything but new. Wattle Court, spearheaded by Matt Hope, former NSW / WA / ACT Master Franchise of G.J. Gardner Homes, is making its mark by blending experience with a fresh approach to residential construction.
A New Approach Backed by Experience
Wattle Court presents itself as a franchise group with a strong foundation in the home-building industry. With years of experience leading one of Australia’s most recognised brands, Hope and his team aim to deliver homes with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
Mark Stoffels, one of the first builders to join the brand, emphasises that their approach is built on transparency and relationships.
“Being a good builder isn’t just about getting the job done. It’s about being upfront with your clients, treating your trades and suppliers with respect, and delivering homes that stand the test of time.”
Relationships with your suppliers and trades are really key. When we work with a partner, we want to work with you so that we get a good outcome for both of us. Because without our suppliers and trades we can’t do anything and vice versa.” Mark added.
Wattle Court is not targeting first-home buyers but rather second, third, and fourth home buyers, a demographic that often seeks a more customised approach.
“We’re working with people who have built before. They know what they want and expect high-quality workmanship and communication throughout the process. They’re our type of customer as this is exactly what we deliver,” Mark explains.
Sustainable Building Practices in Focus
Sustainability is at the core of Wattle Court’s building approach. One key initiative is the use of 100% recycled plastic pods from BIAX Foundations, an alternative to traditional waffle pods that have recently been tainted with negative environmental impacts.
“Waffle pods have their issues, and we’ve seen the difference firsthand.”
Mark adds, “Using recycled plastic pods is a cleaner, more efficient way to build. It’s better for the environment, and it’s just a smarter way to do things and better for future generations.”
“We’ve always been big on what are we leaving behind when we construct, and really all we want to leave is good memories”, Mark adds.

Expansion Plans and Industry Challenges
Despite being a relatively new name in the market, Wattle Court is expanding rapidly, with plans to establish six new offices this year.
From Mark’s perspective of his own patch on the Sunshine Coast, he added that with growth comes the challenge of maintaining consistency and ensuring new teams follow a structured process.
“Growth is great, but only if you do it right,” Mark notes. “We’ve spent a lot of time developing systems that make sure every home we build meets our standards.”
Beyond their own business, Wattle Court’s leadership is also focused on the broader industry. Mark speaks passionately about mentoring young builders and improving industry standards.
“There’s a lot of pressure on builders right now, and not everyone is doing the right thing.”
“We need to be guiding young builders, setting better standards, and making sure the industry moves forward in the right way.”
The Future of Wattle Court
As Wattle Court moves forward, the company appears committed to balancing growth with quality. While expanding into new markets, its leadership remains focused on relationships, transparency, and sustainable building practices.
“At the end of the day, it’s not just about how many houses you build,” Mark reflects. “It’s about the relationships you build, the impact you have, and making sure you’re leaving the industry better than you found it.”Wattle Court may be a new name, but it is entering the market with a clear vision and deep industry experience, qualities that will likely define its path in the years to come.
