What's the term for how smartphone keyboards will sometimes select a different key from what you type because it thinks you're mistyping it? No, not autocorrect. There was an interview with some techie at apple and he was talking about how if you're typing it'll try to predict what you want to type next, even at the start of a word; so if you start typing "the" but accidentally hit the r instead of the t it'll press the t despite your finger being on the r, and that's IN ADDITION to autocorrect. I've noticed this hundreds of times while typing on my phone with autocorrect off. What's the name for it?

this raisin is so annoying because I like to type with a spanish-language keyboard because I prefer the spacing of the letters but it keeps changing random words to partial other words - this becomes thia, type becomes tupe, words becomes worda, replicate becomes replicare for some reason, it's actively adding typos to my typing. It's so frustrating.

Mind you this is gboard monitoring what I am typing and attempting to preempt it and not only not openly declaring it but having a setting that seems unrelated. It's insane. This is common for all phones btw, and it undoubtedly still does it to a lesser degree now… this was made by apple almost 2 decades ago and is standard for smartphone keyboards.
