Kenji Chiga
1982年、滋賀県出身。大阪大学卒業。現実と虚構、個人と集団のあいだにひそむ境界や緊張関係を出発点に、社会に内在する見えにくい構造や力学を読み解く。リサーチと実験的な表現を組み合わせながら、その関係性を作品として立ち上げている。制作の中心には常にダミーブック制作があり1_wallグランプリ、写真新世紀優秀賞など国内外で作品・ブック共に多数受賞。シンガポール国際写真祭でグランプリを受賞した写真集『HIJACK GENI』を2024年IANN BOOKS より刊行。
近年の主な展覧会に、「まず、自分でやってみる。」（BUG、2024）、「日本の新進作家 vol.21 現在地のまなざし」（東京都写真美術館、2024）などがある。
Born in 1982 in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from Osaka University. Starting from the boundaries and tensions that lie between reality and fiction, and between the individual and the collective, Chiga explores the invisible structures and dynamics embedded within society. Combining research with experimental forms of expression, he constructs works that reveal these relationships. At the core of his practice is the making of dummy books. His works and books have received numerous awards both in Japan and internationally, including the 1_WALL Grand Prix and the Excellence Award at Canon’s New Cosmos of Photography. His photobook HIJACK GENI, which won the Grand Prize at the Singapore International Photography Festival, was published by IANN BOOKS in 2024.
Recent notable exhibitions include To begin with, we must try to do things ourselves. (BUG, 2024) and The Gaze of the Present Contemporary Japanese Photography vol. 21(Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, 2024).
