FAQs
Amex Passport allows you to automatically earn stamps as you travel the world and use your American Express® Consumer Card(s). Stamps are digital collectibles that visually represent each country or region you travel to. You can also add highlights from each trip to your stamps to capture and relive your favorite memories, explore an interactive map to keep track of where you’ve been, find inspiration on where to go next, and share your stamp collection on social media or text it to friends.
Amex Passport stamps are expertly designed digital collectibles that help you celebrate your travel experiences. You’ll earn new stamps automatically when you travel internationally and use your American Express Consumer Card(s) in-person. Each stamp is a unique digital token that is stored in your Amex Passport and recorded on a blockchain. You can share your stamps on social media, save them to your camera roll, or come back to Amex Passport to view your collection. You can also learn more about the inspiration for each stamp design by tapping into a stamp from the ‘Stamps’ page.
You’ll automatically earn a stamp based on your transaction data when you make an in-person purchase using your American Express Consumer Card(s) abroad in over 130 qualifying countries and regions. For example, if you make a purchase with your Card at a coffee shop in France, whether it’s using your physical Card or a digital wallet (e.g., Apple Pay®, Google Pay™, or Samsung Pay®), you’ll get a notification that you earned a new France stamp, and it will automatically be available in your Amex Passport. When you create your Amex Passport, we’ll automatically add any stamps from your past two years of travel to get you started, including a U.S.A. stamp.
Your Amex Passport is a reflection of you and your travel history. The stamps you earn are unique tokens stored on a blockchain, or a public digital record. This means that when you travel abroad with American Express, a record of the country or region you visited is preserved on the blockchain as a digital collectible to remember your trip by. Please note, none of your personally identifiable information will be visible on a blockchain.
Amex Passport uses public blockchain technology to store your stamps. A blockchain is a digital ledger. When we issue you a new stamp, we’ll also record it as an entry on a blockchain. Each stamp is an ERC-721 token that is recorded and stored on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain. View the Amex Passport smart contract.
None of your personal information will be visible on Base, including your trip highlights, name, or account information. Each stamp will only show the country or region of the stamp, stamp description, and the date of when you earned the stamp.
You are not able to transfer stamps out of Amex Passport.
