We envision a Somerville where being Jewish or Israeli is celebrated as part of our city's diversity. We want to live in a city where there is safety and respect for all, and where we build relationships and foster kindness between the many vibrant communities in Somerville.
Shalom Somerville is a grassroots coalition of people who live, work, and study in Somerville who are building an inclusive, respectful, and civil community. We provide an informed voice to our city and school leaders and staff; build relationships; and foster an understanding of complex issues around Israel, its neighbors, and the Jewish experience in Somerville. We work to advance a Somerville that is safe for Jews and Israelis, and where people with different viewpoints are able to listen to and learn from each other. We stand against antisemitism and anti-Israeli hate.
