After Modi’s China visit, India now ready to fire another snub missile at the US

Amid trade tensions with the US, New Delhi and Moscow are reportedly negotiating to expand supplies of S-400 air defence systems, which proved a ‘game-changer’ in Operation Sindoor. Russia is also exploring investment opportunities to manufacture Su-57 jets in India

When Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently remarked that Moscow “appreciated” New Delhi’s refusal to yield to US pressure to stop purchasing Russian goods, especially discounted oil, his words carried more than simple gratitude. It was a pointed signal that Washington’s aggressive stance — particularly under President Donald Trump — had only served to strengthen the longstanding Russia-India partnership.
In what is being seen as a potential snub to the US, New Delhi is reportedly in talks with Moscow to acquire more S-400 air defence systems. The platform has been hailed as a “game-changer” by Indian Air Force Chief A P Singh, who recently praised its “wonderful” performance during Operation Sindoor.
