Katelyn Davis Obituary

Katelyn Gillispie Davis passed away peacefully at her home in Van Alstyne, Texas as the age of 9 years old, following a year-long battle with cancer. Katelyn is survived by her adoptive parents, Bobby Davis and Fred Brown; biological parents, Courtney Gillispie of Stringtown, Texas and Talmadge Davis of Van Alstyne. Katelyn is also survived by her siblings, Shayne, Haeli, Kamirah, Bobby II, Ashton, Patricia, Trenton, Alexander, and Rose Davis of the home. Additionally, she is survived by grandmother, Velma Gail Henley and her husband Herman of Ingram, Texas, great grandparents Ronnie and Kay Crossland of Muskogee, Oklahoma, along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and great-grandparents.

Katelyn was born on March 18, 2009, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She attended Van Alstyne Elementary, Van Alstyne, Texas. She enjoyed living on the farm, playing with the farm animals and never lost her smile during a rough year of chemotherapy and radiation. She loved riding around in her Jeep and playing with her brothers and sisters.

A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Alstyne, Texas at 11:00 a.m. Chaplin Diana Van Buskirk will officiate. Burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, May 28, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Scoggins Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Home Hospice of Grayson County, especially Registered Nurse Ginna and aides Brittany and Ariana who made her last days so very comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W. Sherman Street, Sherman, Texas, 75090, Make - A- Wish of North Texas, 6655 Deseo, Irving, Texas, 75039, or Operation ReLink, 709 Maple Circle, Van Alstyne, Texas, 75495.
