Greene: GOP a ‘good old boys club’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) slammed what she described as the GOP’s “good old boys club” in a new interview with Georgia’s largest newspaper.

“They want women just to go along with whatever they’re doing and basically to stand there, smile and clap with approval, whereas they just have their good old boys club,” the conservative lawmaker told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

She didn’t name any of her colleagues who she specifically felt had slighted her, and her office didn’t immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.

“I’m an elected member of Congress. I’m nobody’s victim,” she told the newspaper. “But it’s real.”

Greene, who was first elected in 2020, has been a staunch supporter of President Trump.

However, she revealed in a recent interview with the Real America’s Voice network that she has faced “a lot” of pushback from the White House over supporting a discharge petition to force the release of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She said she didn’t believe Trump was personally involved in the pushback.

The Georgia Republican also drew attention after breaking with much of the GOP earlier this year in criticizing Israel’s actions in Gaza, calling the humanitarian crisis there a “genocide.”

Greene told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she also thinks Republicans are ignoring women and issues that are important to female voters at their own peril.

“I totally understand these women, and I understand why many times they don’t want to vote for the generic, good old boy Republican that isn’t really campaigning on issues that are important and bring no value or change to their life,” she said.
