the fact that gooner slop exists, implies the existence of its direct opposite: awe-inspiring and thought-provoking, gooner masterpiece

"Animation is cinema" people when you ask them to watch a non-Disney, non-Dreamworks animated film from before 2010.
Whenever my mind wanders back to my Methodist upbringing, I inevitably think of this tumblr post.
2011 was the year movies finally nailed stylized hyper-realism in 3D animated movies without it looking like the uncanny valley and then proceeded to never do so ever again.
Thinking about that article where MrBeast confided that he has no interior life outside his YouTube channel, that most of his income goes towards making more YouTube videos, and that he practically lives in his studio.
Advice for aspiring YouTubers: try to mispronounce a word in your video. It will bring pedants to your comment section in droves trying to correct, driving up engagement immensely.
I think the reason why Atlantis: The Lost Empire still has considerable staying power compared to other Disney "flops" is that its character designs were all done Mike "Creator of 'Hellboy'" Mignola.

I keep saying it. The Disney animation house-style has to change. All these movies just *look* the same. Especially the character design. They need a variety of animation styles, and characters that don’t look interchangeable with just different hairstyles and skin color. x.com/SkyeRoberts_/s…
This can only work if they are all vastly different genres:
Paul: typical Hollywood musical biopic
John: heart-rending romantic drama about him and Yoko
George: animated spiritual odyssey that's more tone poem than linear story
Ringo: screwball comedy
In case you missed it, Gooseworx confirmed that I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream was a big influence on The Amazing Digital Circus and now 14-year olds on TikTok have now formed a fandom for the 90s PC game and are calling it "the best horror game ever"
My favorite trivia fact is that the original was drawn by the same guy who pissed in the DashCon ballpit who later became a white nationalist.
You actually appreciate anime more once you make "2-3 episodes" a day a regular thing.

Activision-Blizzard-King determining if the new Overwatch 2 character is sufficiently diverse enough for people to stop yelling at them about their CEO's numerous sex crimes.
Discord lays off 17% of their staff and immediately images, embeds and emotes stop working like they should. Unsurprising.
The fact that the Akira slide has gone from a fun animation reference to marketing material is a sign we should put it to bed for the next 15 years or so.
Everything I've read about MrBeast makes him the perfect demonic avatar of the smartphone age. Throughout his life, he has carried no ambitions, no guiding principals, and no hobbies except for "going viral." It is sole reason for living.
It's a shame the "liking anime is normal" idea didn't catch on 20 years ago because this would be the #1 holiday movie of 2003 instead of Elf and we would be better off for it.
Hate to say it but I think Nintendo is in a "Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing" situation here.

This is how I can tell AI is gonna crash this year. Anytime Square makes a big push to use over-hyped tech like NFTs and the metaverse, it's a sign of the beginning of the end.
It's telling how little the right-wing apparatus has on Walz because they are now resorting to anti-German sentiment not seen since the Taft administration.
Who cares if Don Bluth could only draw one man. He could draw four distinctly different mice designs and that's way more impressive.
I'm only 30 minutes into this hbomb video, but him talking about how plagarists only steal from people they see as "beneath them" also explains a lot about the mentality of art thieves.
Akira Toriyama. One of the foundational creators of the battle shonen genre. Master of action and comedy. Nailed the look for the most influential JRPG series of all times. Few men like him come along. We're so lucky he came along in our lifetimes.
R.I.P.
Dobson was not an isolated case believe it or not.
As someone who hung around ToonZone and 00s-era DeviantArt in my teens, "person who hates anime and anime fans because they stole popularity from Western cartoons" was a very common type of guy.
In a era where most preschool media is defined by repetitive sounds and colors like Cocomelon or trying to encourage kids to by toys via kids on YT, Bluey rises to the top by actually being a show a parent can enjoy along with their kids.
