Jeremie Frimpong has returned to training after missing Liverpool’s last two Premier League matches with a hamstring injury.
The £29.5 million (€34.1m, $39.9m) summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen sat out the victories over Newcastle United and Arsenal after being forced off against Bournemouth on the opening night of the season.

Rather than report for duty with the Netherlands, Frimpong stayed on Merseyside to do rehab during the international break and he was given the green light to step up his comeback by playing a part in Wednesday’s session.
With Dominik Szoboszlai having shone at right-back in his absence and Conor Bradley also fully fit, head coach Arne Slot has a big decision to make ahead of Sunday’s trip to Burnley.
Given that Liverpool face six games in the space of 17 days across three different competitions this month, Frimpong is likely to be eased back in gradually with no risks taken.
There was also the welcome sight of Alexander Isak training with his new team-mates for the first time on Wednesday following his British record £125m move to Liverpool from Newcastle on deadline day.
After a summer when he went on strike to force through the transfer, Liverpool need to get Isak up to speed. He made his first appearance since May when he came off the bench for Sweden during Monday’s World Cup qualifying defeat to Kosovo.
Federico Chiesa and Joe Gomez were also involved on Wednesday as a youthful squad were put through their paces. Slot will have a bigger group to work with on Thursday with more of the club’s senior players reporting back following their international commitments.
