Stern hosted two groups of individuals at its Elk Grove Village factory to see the game, distributors yesterday and members of the pinball media today. I opted not to go because I have to work and I am already flying out to Michigan for a pinball trip in a couple of weeks.
I have heard good things about the game. As I mentioned previously, the new Star Wars does indeed only have two flippers. These flippers are used to shoot eight different shots in a fan layout. Also as I mentioned in a post last week, the art was done by artists who are new to pinball, hand drawn by a team of four individuals. All three versions of the game contain the main mech, which has a physical ball lock. The machine includes a neat "Force Save" magnet feature. People seem to like the Raymond Davidson code on the new Star Wars pin better than the multiplier-heavy code on the 2017 game.
I can't wait to see the game in action in two days.
Speaking of Stern Pinball, it recently shared a really cool short video of one of California's most iconic pinball locations, San Francisco's Free Gold Watch. My family and I visited there back in 2019. Great place!
On Monday, Chicago Gaming Company shared images on social media of the first of its Medieval Madness Merlin Editions in boxes being shipped out. People who ordered the game early have already started receiving shipping confirmation and tracking numbers.
Speaking of Merlin, another game - Turner Pinball is going to show off its new game Merlin's Arcade in a stream on YouTube tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern. I'm definitely going to tune in to check out the latest code now that machines are shipping.
