Signature spells are so immensely strong in this system, a lot of Playtesters felt that prepared was too weak in comparison. You always have the spells you want most on hand, whereas prepared simply don't. They get a way to cheat the system that prepared casters don't.

What a way to find out that someone took my writing, wholesale plagiarized it, and didn't credit me, lmfao

Hey there, I wrote the original Circus Rules Plus. Here's a link to my announcement post, one year before the announcement post that by the guy you credited. The guy you cited seems to have stolen my work, added some small things, cut other parts, and added himself to the credits but not me. Very cool, u/1MadCatter.

I don't mind derivative work, obviously, the original Circus+ is based on the actual circus rules, I'm not a hypocrite. Some of the new stuff like rehearsals and the likes are great, even, if poorly formatted. But leaving me out of the credits and then using my actual writing, and then aping the name even harder? You couldn't like, link my work or something? I get a passing mention in the announcement post with no "btw half of this isn't my writing", and they don't mention me beyond that... but you *do* add some other guy to the credits. Nice.

OP, your work here is pretty good. It also uses half of my work, unaltered, but the new stuff is fine.

It just is genuinely pretty shit to see the words I wrote in someone else's piece without anything present pointing back to me. This was my first time writing 3pp, which I do full time now. The Drag trait was something I felt very proud of, as an example, and now it's been put in not one but two different hacks with no mention of my name.

Awesome sauce.

EDIT: So, going back, the Circus Rules Plus+ was by a guy called IceThor34, who saw my work on the Paizo forums and asked if he could modify it "for his own group". I did not reply, but the very next day he posted his version to the Paizo Forum. He credits two other people I had in the credits for additional work (i.e. they said something I liked the idea of, and I adapted it) but does not credit me. He does, however, add himself to the credits. A year later, it gets reposted by 1MadCatter, who is either IceThor or someone else, but they present it like its their own work.

This sucks, man.

All numerical effects, such as damage or healing, are halved. If the spell requires a save, both creatures gain a +2 circumstance bonus to their save and any duration is reduced by half (minimum 1 round).",

  • Ardor Overwhelming Magic now specifies immunity must be to the effect type itself,

  • Fabricator Overwhelming Magic now specifies immunity must be to effect type itself,

  • Impulsive Magic now specifies the spell must take 2-actions or less to cast to be used as a reaction,

  • Ferocious Form druid class feat now also increases the damage die of the animal shift unarmed attacks by one step,

  • Dragon Weapon's now each have a second weapon associated with each dragon,

  • Aspect Adept now grants repreparation or a bonus signature spell instead of the legacy playtest version,

  • Traditional Coalescing feat added, allowing selection of another spell you can cast for coalescing form from your tradition,

  • Aspect Seer summoner feat is now Summon Seer, now grants a summon spell permanently to your spell repertoire and is automatically a signature spell.

Irish person here, outraged on your behalf. This is no way to treat a person, and the sick fucks who did it need to be imprisoned for life

The ability to animate enemy corpses in combat, some pretty strong grapple/sicken combos, HP theft and casting, incorporeality and frightened farming and spammable resistance reactions and burrowing— I think it covers a lot of the usual abilities and undead might have!

Absolutely not! We did not buff anything, hahaha. Anything we add, we put through rigorous playtesting— we've spent half a year on this almost daily testing and writing. The goal is not scaling power up, but adding more options. Essence casting is a slotless system, but it doesn't add power, since it has things it can't do that Vancian can (nova'ing is not as easy here!). Astpect Summons means there's less system mastery, which is good (easier) but not better (can't summon a creature with some busted ability). Even power rings are, as presented, a once per x time item bonus to spell attack rolls, not a permanent bonus, which means it's in line with vanilla options. This is all just extra content, not upgrades. That's a very important part of our design process; we think casters are in a good spot, but we addressed some of their perceived shortcomings with alternatives that aren't better, just different.

Signature spells are so useful in this system that it's almost too good-- they're both balanced after... I wanna say 8 months of playtesting now? The long term flexibility of prepped and the short term flexibility of spont makes them both equally strong

Our Foundry person, Vauxs, is a goddamn genius, and the preview we've seen internally of the Foundry Module is so goddamn elegant it could make me cry. It's a really, really good module.

They will by the end of year! We're going to be releasing compilation books, which include Foundry support. Until then, it's very much so an early access type vibe-- but it should be feasible to create custom items with minimal effort in the foundry before then.

If you join the Patreon, you get access to the Discord Plustester channel, including the Magic+ Playtest. Our variant summoning rule is *very* cool, if I do say so myself (and I fully understand why Paizo didn't do it themselves, what a wordcount monster!)

Holy shit, hahaha. I haven't been to Dublin in a year, and hadn't been for a year before. But I was there picking up my husband from the airport, and it was his first time in Ireland. Tried to make the country magic to him, he was a little sad about moving. I was walking into this shop to buy us something to drink, and a woman in her 50s grabbed me and asked me if I could buy her cigarettes. I said no, and she spat at me and called me a selfish bastard. First impression of Ireland for my husband lads 😭

For a while, I definitely thought that was the way there would be a Celtic expy in Golarion. In fact, I pushed for it a lot! But I'm not as sure now, and I think that's for the better. Increasingly, Sarkoris is being depicted more similarly to Innuit or other Native American cultures. Rival Academies does an amazing job painting it that way, and there's content in the Lost Omens World Guide that really back it up. And to be frank-- Ireland would like positive rep, sure, but we don't need it the way other cultures do. I wouldn't take that from them at this rate.

While I genuinely appreciate the compliment so much, you're absolutely overselling me! I had a smaller word count than the others, and it was everyone else who expanded on what I did. I wrote the basic pitch for what every faction did, sure, but it was alongside authors like Michelle Y. Kim or Matt Morris or Andrew White who helped ping pong it into something new. Matt suggested the secret identity of the leader of the Broken Ghosts, Yvonne and I brainstormed the Lion Blade lore expansions, etc etc. And of course, Luis was there guiding all of us the entire time. These books are absolutely team effort, and while I contributed, I didn't do it in a vacuum.

- Weird art that does not make sense, certainly isn't a lancer pegasus

- Second image is the same image but zoomed in

- Tiles in the background are weirdly rectangular and inconsistent
