Discourse: Is Eri in fact a worse parent than Kogoro?
I have a bunch of thoughts on this oh lordy. Disclaimer that despite shipping Kogoro (I'll use sub names this time) with other people (namely Ginzo) I do like Eri and I find their relationship really interesting, although I haven't seen even half of the episodes Eri is featured in so I'm sure there's a lot of details I'm missing, feel free to correct me on any of this.

(I love it in general when adult characters listen to Conan and aren't offended at being upstaged by a seven year old.) Of course Kogoro would still be offended though, he's supposed to be the famous detective after all. XDHope you're doing wonderful too! I could probably be asking questions too in fairness! Moosop's art really sells the dynamic better than I ever could, and hEY I'm always happy to talk about it more!Kaito Kid and the Blush Mermaid (Episodes 724-725) is the case where this happens, and I don’t think the context makes it much less weird. Kid has stolen a turtle with a gem on it, so everyone is getting frisked to see if they're hiding it. Nakamori pats down Kogoro, who reacts appropriately (by blushing and giggling and saying it feels good), and then Nakamori goes and gets patted down by someone else while Kogoro, um, watches.A little bit later, Kogoro is telling Nakamori how impressed he is with Kid this time, which provokes him demanding a strip-search. (Kogoro’s reaction is smiling all nervous and saying, 'Have some mercy!' or something.)My biggest thing with this is that Kogoro is acting super suspicious, mostly in that he keeps talking about how impressive Kid's methods are to Nakamori. Like, he's not saying stuff that Nakamori happens to overhear, he deliberately walks up to him every time. You know, the worst person to say anything nice about Kaitou Kid to. Literally, I think he's written like this as a red herring for the reader, since Kid is in disguise as someone, but spoilers, it isn't Kogoro. Which means the only in-character reason I can think of that Kogoro is doing this is to mess with Nakamori specifically and grind his gears. (And you could argue that Nakamori shouting at him to strip is just turning the tables back on him, since he doesn’t actually make Kogoro do it. The anime having him smile while he’s threatening it seems to support that.)One other little thing: Before the heist, Nakamori thinks of Kogoro as a ‘useless idiot’ and an ‘amateur’ in his head when he shows up. Despite that, Kogoro is allowed to stand alongside Nakamori and Jirokichi, while they’re waiting for the scheduled time. (And Kogoro wasn’t even supposed to be there at all, he just showed up on a whim, so it’s not like he had clearance beforehand.)#TLDR this case is notable bc it's their most shippy-ish moment especially since they don't interact very often#Obviously I'm not saying this proves it's canon bc it isn't but it is kinda fun to look at it from that angle#Also I wrote 'Richard' instead of Kogoro all through this and had to change it#not art#Do I put this in the character/ship tag hmm#nakamouri#Ginzo Nakamori x Kogoro Mouri

I always liked Kogoro/Richard when I watched Case Closed as a kid, but he cemented himself as my favorite character when I was rewatching the series this year with a friend. That lead to looking at the Kogoro tag on Tumblr, and I started finding Moosop-Art's Detective Conan stuff. I thought it was cool, before I even knew who the other guy was. (It's all pretty old, and they don't really draw them anymore, but I still linked it because I love their art style. They've been a big inspiration for me lately.)My friend discovered Magic Kaito 1412, so I learned who Nakamori was and started paying attention to him a little bit more. And then my friend made the mistake of looking at a picture of both of them side-by-side and saying, "If they kiss, it makes a whole mustache." (Y'know, because Nakamori's is a straight-across bar and Kogoro’s has a space in the middle.) And we bounced ideas off each other for the ship from there.I've since seen all the movies where Kaito Kid appears (not every episode yet, though), paying attention to anytime Kogoro and Nakamori interact. I was waiting for something to definitively kill the ship, because it just seemed like they should hate each other, but it never really happened. The overanalyzing for this crack pairing gets worse from there, but I've probably made you cringe enough. cartoonsbyandieToday on "A bad impulse idea I had,” I decided to draw all of Kogoro/Richard’s outfits from the show. I thought it’d be interesting to see what clothes he owns/has bought for himself, and what that might say about his fashion tastes. I also thought he wore his blue suit 90% of the time, so there wouldn’t be that many to draw. I was a fool for thinking this.This will be the first of a series! Especially if I decide to do the movies! Here’s my criteria:
- It must be something he owns and isn’t just borrowing, so hospital gowns or spa robes don’t count. (The ‘judo’ robe shouldn’t really count, but I wanted to draw it because it’s from one of my favorite cases.)
- More boring one-off outfits could be excluded. (He wears a bunch of solid-color shirts/short combos that are all the same style, so I might just pick the most interesting one or lump them all together somehow.) However, if he’s worn the same outfit more than once, I’ll draw it.Also, these won’t be in chronological order. I know I’m missing a few.
