Are flagship phones still worth it in 2025? (I’m leaning mid-range 👀) Are flagship phones still worth it in 2025? (I’m leaning mid-range 👀)

I’ve been wondering about this, flagships keep getting more expensive every year, but honestly, mid-range phones are getting so good that it makes me question if flagships are really worth it anymore.

For example, I’ve been really impressed by the OnePlus 13R and OnePlus 13S. Both pack solid performance, good cameras, and battery life that’s actually reliable, all without hitting flagship prices.

Sure, flagships win in areas like premium design and top-tier cameras, but are those extras worth paying 2–3x more?

What do you guys think? Do flagships still justify their price in 2025, or are mid-rangers like these the smarter buy?

Help me understand why people believe iphones are superior Help me understand why people believe iphones are superior

I dont really get the hype about iphones dont get me wrong im not here to argue im only here to discuss and see different points of views. Ive been a samsung user pretty much all my life never got an iphone i feel like samsung gives me more freedom to download wtv i want and customize every detail about it. I can def notice how the iPhone's camera generally has the edge in videos but i dont see a big difference tbh also i dont notice much difference in the normal pics if we are talking about the picture taken by the camera app itself i see how on social media iphone wins ofc. Id give the zoom to samsung i also see that most agree with that. My main problem with iphone as people describe its like being locked in a phone i mean ofc people praise iphone owners but is it really worth that locked in feeling?

Sometimes people do a bit too good of job helping me see the pros so what iphone should i get if the 16pm is too expensive for me

iOS or Android? iOS or Android?

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can relate to me, but I can't decide between iOS or Android. I've been using iPhones for decades, but switched to Android for two years and after it, I went back to Apple since a few months. My main reason was because I didn't like the camera quality from an Android phone.

But now that I'm using an iPhone, I realize I miss a lot of things that Android has and also I think that the camera quality from an iPhone isn't that great as I thought. I would like to choose one of the devices and stay with it.

So do you prefer Android or iOS and why? And are you going back and forth or stay with it? I'm curious. :)

Edit: omg I read all your reactions! Very funny and interesting that a lot of you can relate, but also tell me which you prefer and why. Hope I can make a decision one day lol

Samsung S24 VS Xiaomi 14 - which to pick Samsung S24 VS Xiaomi 14 - which to pick

"Help me decide! 🤔 Getting the Samsung Galaxy S24 (Snapdragon) or Xiaomi 14 at the almost similar pricing samsung slightly costlier. How does Xiaomi’s camera processing (Leica-tuned) stack up against Samsung’s? Is the samsung worth spending a little bit more for different camera results and longer updates? And if xiaomi's camera processing and ui experience that bad over choosing better charging speeds and battery backup

why every company refuses to put a 3.5mm jack on their phones?? why every company refuses to put a 3.5mm jack on their phones??

i never thought it would be rare to see phones with jack now that im looking for a new phone, cuz the what i have its getting kinda obsolete, so, im searchig the next phone i'd have

i would buy a sony xperia, are the only high end phones with jack connector, but its a shame that, not only expensive, but also it's almost unavailable on my country and there's no much options

the only phones that have jack propably are the low end phones, but im searching for a mid range phone with jack and those are rare

yeah, i could by just an adaptor but, i feel that im not gonna conform with a phone with no jack

any mid range phone that has a jack connector?

Why it's so hard for iphone users to believe and accept that not everybody like Iphones Why it's so hard for iphone users to believe and accept that not everybody like Iphones

Personally I don't like to be enslaved to just one brand I'm the kind of person who likes to use whatever I want without caring about the stupid ecosystem, I have a tv that is Hisense, my laptop is Lenono, My phone is Redmi and earphones are apple. With Iphone you can't use anything else if it's not from apple (the airpods it's the only exception thanks to Bluetooth).. simple as that, I'm aware that iphones are cool and all that, they have amazing cameras, but I just simply don't care about that I care about other things that Android phones have (in my case I'm currently loving Redmi phones).

When you are so trapped in the same ecosystem of the same brand, you are not open to try other cools stuff that other phones have, Androids give you the option of exploring different Phones, with Iphone the only option you have it's yes Iphone nothing else and I don't like that.

My sister is Obsessed with all Apple products (she actually gave me the airpods I'm currently using) and she's always asking why I don't try an iphone, and I always say to her, because I simply don't like it, and she is like OMG I don't believe u, like why iphone users find so hard to accept that there's actually people out there who actually don't like iphones simple as that.

I have met other people that tell me all the time to switch to iphone, and I always go like ,🙄🙄 here we go again

iPhone to Samsung iPhone to Samsung

Hey guys, I know this has been asked but couldn’t see much about my questions.

I’m done with my iPhone 13. I have Apple since day dot and the first iPhone 3GS. I spent a crap load on this phone and now it just over heats googling something (coincidentally, stops over heating when I browse phones from my carrier)

Anyway. I’m done with iOS. I’m moving to Samsung. Specifically the S25 ultra and the 44mm watch. It’ll get used heavily all day at work (12hrs) with the screen basically on all day either streaming Netflix, Spotify, or various socials I’m busy on while I’m “working”. It gonna handle this? Same with overheating. They’re good at mitigating heat? Or am I better off getting a rotary phone and pretend I’m Amish.

Thank for whatever input you guys have. Be gentle. I’m still on iOS.

Is it just me, or does nobody like big phones anymore? Is it just me, or does nobody like big phones anymore?

Going to try to keep this post relatively short... I had to revise this one multiple times over to try not sounding like a lengthened rant.

Lately I've noticed something: despite what the market conditions believe you to think, nobody actually seems to like big phones anymore. This isn't just with all the vocal 13 mini users, but it also rings true with people I know that found a 16 Pro Max or even vanilla 16 too big and/or heavy when they owned one, but switched to the rather unpopular at best 16e and love its size or weight. Same for my uncle, who went from an iPhone 13 Pro Max to a Samsung Galaxy S25 vanilla - rather unexpected of him to go back to Android after 8 years of using Apple, but even less expected is that he got a medium sized phone for the first time since his Droid Razr Maxx in 2012 (idk what 4.3 inches would have been considered back then, bigger than the concurrent iPhone 4S but smaller than the known big Galaxy S III).

Another thing I want to note: I've heard that the iPhone 14, 15, and 16 Plus models have all sold terribly - somehow even worse than the mini, and that the Plus model might be dropped altogether in the next generation or two - but I'll believe that when I see it happen. To play devil's advocate though, there is only a $200 difference between the Plus and Pro Max (using 256GB as the baseline), and these phones are both $1000+.

I can see why phones have only gotten bigger over the years though - as society becomes more dependent on smartphones, who wants to be looking at a tiny 6.1 inch screen on the regular? For media consumption or doing work I see myself wanting more than 6.1 inches, but maybe that is just me. Maybe I'm just out of the loop because I've only ever daily driven medium-sized phones, so as someone who's never daily driven a proper big phone I can't relate to the exhaustion that people have with big phones. Maybe I'm not talking to the right people, whether they're a current enthusiast, retired enthusiast, or not tech savvy? The only other person I know who would straight up benefit from a big (6.5"+) phone is my dad, and that's mostly because he's 55 and his eyesight has been degrading over the past 15 years.

Have we hit a point to where people are getting tired of big phones, especially because they haven't gotten any bigger in the past 5 years and cap out at 6.9 inches unless you get a horizontal foldable? Please note that I'm not crusading for phones to continue getting bigger than the 6.1 to 6.9 inch delta that phone manufacturers , nor for small phones (5.8 inches or less) to take over the market if they even make a comeback. I'm really just curious to see what y'all think on this whole matter.

My new iPhone actually discourages me from being glued on it. My new iPhone actually discourages me from being glued on it.

Okay, I feel like I'm in the minority here.

I just bought an iPhone 13 Pro Max after many years of different Android brands like Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc. So far it feels great to use, mainly because I was already used to the gesture navigation on my last phone before that. I have also not experienced the problems people have with iPhones like overheating (it does get very warm while charging, so I usually take off the case then, but otherwise it stays cool, I even brought it on the beach and it was totally fine) or bad battery life (this thing is a monster, it's at 87% capacity and it easily lasts all day with heavy use, imagine with a new battery).

But here comes the strange part - it's very smooth and fast, but also sometimes a little annoying to use. Maybe that's the reason why I actually feel the urge to leave it and go touch grass each time I pick it up. Some emulators that I had on my Android phone are not available here, which is another little annoyance.

The only time I feel the urge to pull out the phone is when I'm outside and I see something I wanna capture with the camera, because I am learning photography. The cameras are great and I've been very satisfied with them.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase, maybe also because of the good price.

Now, the question is: has anyone else actually been discouraged to use the phone by the phone itself? Especially a big one like the Pro Max?

I’m looking forward to switch to an android after being an iphone user for 4 years, i’m selling my iphone 13 pro max which is my current phone since it’s a really high maintenance phone, i’ve already spent a lot of money on repairing it & cases and stuffs like that. I’m thinking to switch to a lower priced, less maintenance phone, is google pixel 9a a good choice currently? Or should i see some other phones as well? I need some recommendations.

MicroSD cards are far from obsolete. MicroSD cards are far from obsolete.

Some people say MicroSD cards are not needed anymore with the high internal storage capacities available nowadays. But that is not true. MicroSD is about control, not only storage.

MicroSD cards let you quickly move large amounts of data between devices.

MicroSD cards let you instantly free up space by swapping it with a new card.

MicroSD cards let you access your data if you break your phone or if some update has a bug that makes your phone unuseable. You have the peace of mind that if you break your phone, you can easily access your data.

MicroSD cards are pay-once own-forever. Cloud storage requires perpetual payment and cloud storage providers may be snooping in your photos.

Many sports cameras have MicroSD card slots. If your phone has one, you can watch your sports camera video on your phone without needing bulky adapters.

What if you need more storage than you thought you would need? What if you bought a 64 GB phone but suddenly realized you need more? You don't have to replace your entire phone.

Not many phones have MicroSD card slots nowadays, probably because phone manufacturers fear that people buy cheap off-brand MicroSD cards and then blame the phone for the slow performance. This can be solved with a warning message that tells the user to buy a higher performance card or expect performance losses.

There is no excuse not to fit this tiny slot in a phone. It doesn't take much space but adds lots of usefulness.

Spectronic canada - this a legitimate site? Spectronic canada - this a legitimate site?

I just purchased a Xiaomi 15 from a Canadian website called spectronic.ca they are supposedly based somewhere in Toronto Canada although I haven't found an exact location on their website. I placed my order last Saturday and it's now Monday night. My order still says it's being processed and hasn't shipped yet. The esteemed delivery date was from September 9-11. They have a WhatsApp contact that i tried to send a message to the same day i ordered the phone but to this day it hasn't even been delivered to the recipient. Calling the phone number on the website also comes up with "The person you are trying to reach is not available. You can leave a message"

I've done some research and I've checked some reviews on trustpilot. Like always they are mixed. Some people are very satisfied others are complaining about this exact problem I'm fearing. That the company simply won't reply or ship the products even weeks after payment and no response to messages.

I would really appreciate if somebody could ease my stress and shed some light on this. I'm currently in the hospital and I've been in the ICU for over a month I almost died and was put on life support twice due to not being able to breathe and now dealing with a whole lot of other issues. My life is a mess right now and my stress and anxiety is at its peak to the point where i often get panic attacks (something I've never experienced before) i really don't need any more stress in my life then what I'm already dealing with on a daily basis so i hope someone could help me out and i really hope i wasn't just outed $1,200.

Which android manufacturer genuinely cares about its users? Which android manufacturer genuinely cares about its users?

I’m looking for a company that offers solid customer support, fair pricing, reliable software updates, and overall a user friendly approach. 🧐 I’m planning to switch phones soon, and for some reason I also care about the company’s values not just the hardware.

Please don't say Samsung 😅 that's a no go. I'm thinking about OnePlus.

Advice on a good budget phone? Advice on a good budget phone?

So I’m a college student who is incredibly broke and I really have no knowledge on anything phone related. I currently have an iPhone 10 I think which I only have because my boss a few years ago was selling it when I needed a phone. A few weeks ago my car knocked my phone off and totally shattered the screen. I’ve been managing with tape over it but it’s hard to read anything on it.

There are not many aspects of a phone I really need. I just want something that would be reliable, fast, good camera, preferably bigger than the iPhone 10 lol, and under 300 dollars. I do homework from my phone when I’m in a rush so anything that can support holding a lot of data would be good too.

I’d love any advice cause I really don’t know much at all. Thank you!

Why expensive Smartphones costing over 650€ don't make me any happier than Smartphones costing up to 450€ Why expensive Smartphones costing over 650€ don't make me any happier than Smartphones costing up to 450€

I currently own a Samsung Galaxy A55 and often wonder if I would be happier with a High-End Smartphone. But the longer I think about it, the less I feel the need for a 1,000€ Smartphone, apart from the Camera and Battery-Life (which you can also get with cheaper Devices).

Now I would like to know what you think about this topic.
Feel free to share your thoughts.

S25 Ultra 12/256 vs OnePlus 13 16/512. Same price. Which one to get? S25 Ultra 12/256 vs OnePlus 13 16/512. Same price. Which one to get?

Hey everyone. I’m upgrading from a Galaxy M51 (2020) and have two options at the same price:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra — 12GB / 256GB

  • OnePlus 13 — 16GB / 512GB

My priorities (in order):

  1. Worry-free camera in low light (main + ultrawide + selfie) and reliable zoom.

  2. Unmatched real-world performance (no micro-stutters, no lag).

  3. Buttery smooth animations & tactile haptics, it needs to feel premium.

  4. Predictable battery life (not just huge numbers) and no update-break regressions.

  5. Bug-free software.

What I’m worried about / what I want feedback on:

  • Real-world low-light photos and selfies (how often do each phone produce misses vs keepers?).

  • Ultra-wide quality and corner detail.

  • Zoom: clarity at 3x and 5x (or higher). Which phone gives usable handheld zoom consistently?

  • Smoothness: which one actually feels smoother day-to-day (animations, scrolling, quick panel, app switching)? Any micro-stutter reports you’ve seen in normal use?

  • Battery reality: not lab numbers, how long does it last for a heavy/average user over 6+ months? Any updates that tanked battery life?

  • Software reliability: any updates that introduced serious bugs (notification issues, Android Auto, weird wakelocks)? How fast did the maker fix them?

  • Haptics & speakers: how do they feel/compare for real-world typing, notifications, media?

Context: I don’t want constant babysitting or phone drama. If one phone means a year or two of “works great until an update” anxiety, that’s a deal breaker.

Will 2026 smartphones have replaceable batteries as per EU laws? Will 2026 smartphones have replaceable batteries as per EU laws?

By 2027, all phones sold in the EU must have user replaceable batteries by law. A lot of people, like me, are holding off replacing our phones, waiting for this law to be implemented. What I want to know is if manufacturers know there is this pent-up demand and will issue at least one high-end model with a replaceable battery in 2026? I would not be surprised to see new tech in this regard, such as batteries that snap on to the back of the phone magnetically.

More details: EU votes to mandate removable batteries in smartphones in a landslide; no more glued together junk!

Switching iOS to android question Switching iOS to android question

Hello! I've been using two phones for a few months (two numbers). I've always been an iPhone person, my first iPhone was... The first one. I tried the pixel 9 pro as my second phone and also own an iPhone 16 pro as my main. I really prefer it over the iPhone.

I consider switching fully to Android (maybe a galaxy s25 ultra).

My only concern is that I use passkey on my iPhone and use a mac and an apple watch.

Is there a way to transfer all the passwords and keys to android ?

Cheers

60hz vs 120hz - (iphone16 vs S25) 60hz vs 120hz - (iphone16 vs S25)

My choice was between the iPhone 16 or the Samsung S25 and I'm still stuck on it
I like small phones so iPhone has the edge being 6.1 inches but i don't think i can handle being stuck on 60hz
I heard that the iPhone 17 would have 120hz?
Should i wait for the iPhone 17 to get the most out of my money or just get the iPhone or S25

People that have experienced both 60hz and 120hz, is the difference big and noticeable ??

Disappointed with my iPhone 16, is it time to move away from iOS? Disappointed with my iPhone 16, is it time to move away from iOS?

I have used iOS for about 10 years now. Had Samsungs up until the s4 then I moved to apple with the iPhone 6. Got the iPhone 7 Plus which I had for 4 years, then the 11 pro max (one of my favourite phones) then I recently got the iPhone 16. Probably my fault for not getting the pro, but the camera was a decent-ish upgrade, but I am incredibly shocked as to how bad the battery is. Apple wise, I only speak to my wife on iMessage, everyone else is whatsapp or fb messenger. Basically I have had been back and forth between moving away, as I am struggling to justify a £1000 phone for a pro model of an iPhone. Having been in the apple ecosystem for a while, it’s just too obvious as to how little you get out of apple phones these days. Anyone else recently made a switch, is it easy enough? And do you mind recommending some phones, around the £500-700 mark. Many thanks

i know Samsung S25 is the right choice and clear winner
but I'm very inclined to try out an iPhone

I currently own a vivo that's like 6 years old and it finally gave up on me
to be honest i don't care about how amazing the camera is or how much can it zoom or how well it records at 4k

Making the switch from iPhone to google pixel Making the switch from iPhone to google pixel

I’ve been considering buying a pixel for so long now but the thing that’s stopping me is having a whole apple ecosystem, I already have an iPad, AirPods and an apple watch and I only need a new phone since my iPhone 14 has been overheating and the battery is dying on me super quick, the issue is I want to keep my other devices, should I stick to iPhone until I eventually replace my Apple Watch and AirPods?

I found a sim card in a brand new phone. I found a sim card in a brand new phone.

Recently my elderly mom dropped her old phone and the screen didn't liked that at all. We ordered a new one, a Samsung Galaxy (Android obviously). Right now I'm sitting at her kitchen table, transfering her data and accounts. While switching the SIM-card for the very first time I found already one in the brand new phone, blank, except for some ID-Number. Out of curiosity I inserted it in the old broken phone, and yes, it hast an phone number on it starting with +1. No contacts. What have I found? Anyone know?

Update: The number ist listed in Albany, NY. A nice computervoice tells me, that a connection restriction on the number makes it imposibel to call it ...

Im tired of my iphone i want something new … suggestions?? Im tired of my iphone i want something new … suggestions??

Im 26 , Ive had an iphone since the Iphone 5. I have the 15 pro now. You can say I’m like any other american who fell inlove with the user interface apple has had or what not . The emojis , face time , and imessages has all kept me on the Apple side despite terrible battery life , unnecessary overheating, intermittent crashes. I sometimes wonder about getting a phone thats actually better and not one because of its popularity. I was thinking about going back to android and getting a samsung galaxy, but its been years since I’ve had one so IM not sure . What should i do and how should i do it?

Leaving Apple for Android (2025) Leaving Apple for Android (2025)

Hi folks,

I’m looking for advice on switching my wife from her current iPhone to Android and would love some recommendations on what’s worth buying now.

The main things she cares about are:

  • Slim, pocket-friendly design (no bulky bricks)

  • A really good camera for everyday use

  • Smooth performance + long software support (she keeps phones for years)

Budget is around $500–$600.

Also, what’s the easiest way in 2025 to move over years of photos, contacts, WhatsApp chats, and apps from iOS to Android?

Thanks in advance!

What's the best buy right now between Xiaomi 11 Ultra, 12s Ultra, 13 Ultra, and 14 Ultra? What's the best buy right now between Xiaomi 11 Ultra, 12s Ultra, 13 Ultra, and 14 Ultra?

So I was thinking of picking up an 11 Ultra, but decided to check out the newer generation flagships as well

In terms of price, they are

11 Ultra

12s Ultra (+40%)

13 Ultra (+49%)

14 Ultra (+78%)

Is it worth it to pay 40% more for the 12s Ultra over the 11 Ultra, and so on?

The price increase are all relative to the 11 Ultra, and they are all the 512gb version

Which one's the best buy here?

Main camera is by far the most important feature for me

could you recommend me a phone for general daily use? could you recommend me a phone for general daily use?

hello! my xiaomi 10t pro has recently died. its not charging anymore so i am a bit in a pinch. it has only lasted 3 years, which is extremely disappointing. i would like to move to another brand of phone. i had a samsung before this and its been going strong, still working (an overstatement, its just possible to work on it a bit) after 6-7 years. I would like to move back to samsung, but i'm not knowledgeable about which phone would be ok. i want to take ok pics if possible, to be able to run a variety of apps and a good battery life (since im traumatized after this xiaomi).

Upgrading from old apple to android Upgrading from old apple to android

Hi all,

I am going go upgrade from my older 6ish year old iPhone SE which is super laggy and on its way out.

I’m looking at giving android a shot for my next phone. I’m stuck deciding between the Samsung galaxy s25 ultra and the pixel 10 pro. They are both currently around the same price where I live.

I would like a phone that will last me at least 3-4 years without getting laggy, feels snappy, smooth to use, takes nice photos and is reliable.

I mainly just use my phone for social media stuff, Snapchat, Facebook Instagram, YouTube and a few apps for work. I don’t really do any gaming, maybe some retro emulation gba/ snes era games.

I am leaning towards the the pixel because I have read it takes better photos and videos, the now playing thing looks cool and the phone magnets ( I’m pretty sure Samsung can do the wireless charging too with a case which I would be putting on either phone).

I own a galaxy tab s7 and the OS seems pretty good. I have read the pixel OS is nice because it has a lot less bloat.

Anything that may help me decide would be great. Thanks

Stages of capitalism portrayed by phones. Stages of capitalism portrayed by phones.

Basic capitalism(Iphones, and a few android companies before 2018 and a few android companies nowadays) : You buy something and it works as expected. You get exactly what you pay for, more, or something less than what you expected but not enough to hate it. You can get more stuff for what you already have by paying (like icloud+) but you dont have to. You are happy

Late stage capitalism ( Samsung, circa 2025 ) You buy a mid range phone (500-600$). It has a shitty adhd enticing color. You try setting it up. Ads. for apps for games. At least you have a good camera You try editing your photos. OOPs You need to pay google to do that sucker!

Any advice on switching to a pixel? Any advice on switching to a pixel?

I have been thinking about getting a new phone specifically a refurbished pixel 9 pro or a refurbished iphone 15 pro. I was wondering if anyone has any advice specifically because google announced they want devs to identify themselves which would affect side-loading. I wanted to switch to android just to experience the customizability and explore downloading apks. Since google will implement their policy next year would I still be able to side load apps now and keep those apps or would they go away? For my use case either phone is fine in terms of usability since I don’t do a lot on my phone but I do want to experience a flagship phone coming from an iphone 7. I thought about maybe just getting a pixel and using a custom rom like graphene, but it looks like graphene doesn’t allow gpay or tap to pay from what I see online. Tap to pay is too convenient for me to just give up on it. I would appreciate any advice or insight.

Why it doesn't make sense for the new S26 and S27 lines to come with small 5,000mAh lithium batteries: Why it doesn't make sense for the new S26 and S27 lines to come with small 5,000mAh lithium batteries:

I did some battery tests in several smartphones and came to the conclusion that 5,000mAh lithium batteries are not able to last a whole day in 5G with these extremely powerful hardware like the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a future Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 makes no sense to consider.

So these HUGE Carbon Silicon batteries are inevitable for future hardware.

The result was as follows:

The iPhone 16 Pro (3.582mAh) does 4 hours of screen on 5G with great difficulty, and can't make it to the end of the day, while the iPhone 16e (3.961mAh) makes 6 hours of screen time with the new C1 modem, a huge differential.

The Galaxy S23 Plus for example, has 7 hours of screen time on 5G with its 4,700mAh, with 10 hours on stand-by.

The S24 Plus (4,900mAh) and S25 Plus (4,900mAh) fare worse in 5G than the S23 Plus because it has more hardware and a small battery, 2 mistakes in a row that Samsung has made... both do 6 hours of screen time on 5G, but with a worse autonomy.

If you take an IQoo Z10 (7,500mAh), for example, it does 11 hours of screen time on 5G normally, with 20 hours on Stand-by, but it has average hardware.

Silicon Carbon Batteries have an absurd autonomy, even with a modem that is bad in autonomy in 5G.

9-millimeter phones with 15,000mAh battery is crazy, but it's already a reality in the new Realme models.

And so far I haven't seen anything in Snapdragon that comes close to Apple's C1 modem in energy efficiency, the latest Dimensity has a better autonomy in 5G. The S25 Ultra does poorly in 5G, gets very hot and consumes a lot of energy. The best argument is that Qualcomm's processors are too powerful compared to the competition, and small lithium batteries are not able to sustain all that power, and it also lacks a more efficient modem like Apple's C1 in Snapdragon, of course Apple's hardware uses much less power than Qualcomm's, which has better energy efficiency.

I don't know if the S26 line will come with the new 2-millimeter Exynos 2600, the first in the world. But if they actually perform 15-20% better than the Snapdragon 8 Elite and have better energy efficiency with possibly a Modem comparable to or better than Apple's C1, it will be a good excuse from Samsung for not using Silicon Carbon batteries yet.

The battery test of the S25 Edge was so bad that I didn't want to put the results, but it didn't reach 3 hours of screen time on 5G, one of the few smartphones with a worse battery than the Pro line of iPhones I've ever seen, putting so much power in a battery of that size doesn't even make logical sense, the result was an abnormal price drop due to too low sales in such a short time.

What happened to reasonably sized phones? What happened to reasonably sized phones?

My iPhone 11s charging port has completely quit working and has recently started overheating whenever its above 60F in whatever area I am in. Since I got that phone I have thought it was too big and that I wanted a normal sized (iPhone 7-size) phone after it died. Since then, most modern phones are the same size as what was "XL" even when I got the iPhone 11 in 2020. Apple killed their "Mini" and "SE" lines to replace it with their useless overly thin "Air" model, modern baseline pixels are way larger than the old Pixel 2 XL was, Samsung quit making flagship phones below tablet sized, and every single company that makes flagship phones makes them the same size or larger than my iPhone 11. What happened to making phones that fit in peoples pockets??

Apple Family - Divorce? Apple Family - Divorce?

Wife is die hard apple. iPhone, MacBook, IPad, Apple Watch. She LOVES iMessage features, sharing notes and lists inside the notepad app, and FaceTiming everyone in the family.

My 9yo son has an iPhone (type 1 diabetic - we use it as his PDM/CGM + tracking at school). He also uses it to FaceTime his friends that he games with (who also have iPhones)

My 5yo daughter has our old hand me down iPhone 12 that she plays games on and she loves to FaceTime me at work when I have late nights in the office.

I’ve been STRONGLY considering moving to the Galaxy S25 Ultra or something NOT Apple for the following reasons:

  1. I work outside a lot. I live in Arizona. The glare, screen dimming, and overheating issues my iPhones have CONSTANTLY are a real problem for me. I’ve literally dropped meetings with executives after just 10 mins while being outside just because my phone was too hot and shut down. The glare and dimming just infuriates me to no end sometimes.

  2. Bored and hating iOS 26. I’ve been an iPhone user for years. I’ve had androids in the past (off and on) and always found myself coming back to Apple as the android devices always felt “empty” and “bloated” at the same time with all the bloatware apps and endless customization and menus…IPhones simplicity is what appealed to me, but now, this new iOS 26, I absolutely HATE it. I’ve been beta testing it on my 15PM, and I do not like it at all.

  3. Tired of paying insane money for a phone that just feels so fragile. I love the slick design of the iPhones, but I hate if I fart wrong with this thing in my pocket, the screen or glass back shatters… so yeah, I use a case and screen protector, BUT NOW MY PHONE LOST ITS “ELEGANCE”! I’m left with a brick in my pocket that I’m still concerned about breaking if it touches a surface too hard… I love that the S25 Ultra has a more rugged screen tolerance and isn’t made of 100% glass everything.

  4. Apple Intelligence - Sucks ass. I can’t even use it.

  5. Siri - This feature has become an annoyance over time. Ask a question? Get web links or a text response prompting me to basically look it up myself.

  6. Galaxy S25 Ultra Stylus, photo editing, and AI literally SHIT on iPhone. I was in BestBuy for a good hour just playing with the S25 Ultra stylus and editing photos. I loved it. My kids loved it. It honestly is such a solid set of features that work very well.

At the end of the day though - I love my AirPod Pros, and I love being connected (seamlessly) with my family every day. Yes, the eco system is real, and yes they got me.

I’m not keen on the idea of basically divorcing my family and isolating myself as the one and only non-Apple user, BUT, I’m not stoked on the iPhone 17 and yet another dull launch of nothing truly new.

So do I stay or do I go?

Is Apple + Samsung’s smartphone dominance finally under threat? Who can realistically take them on? Is Apple + Samsung’s smartphone dominance finally under threat? Who can realistically take them on?

We’ve lived in an Apple + Samsung duopoly for years when it comes to premium smartphones. Yes, brands like OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and even Google Pixel have tried to challenge them — but let’s be honest, most of their “flagships” are now priced so high that people end up buying an iPhone or a Galaxy anyway.

At this point, do you think any brand can actually break through and seriously compete with Apple + Samsung in both market share and brand perception? • Could Google Pixel carve out a bigger space with AI integration? • Could Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, or OnePlus ever be seen as true premium alternatives in the West? • Or will the smartphone market always remain a two-horse race?

Really curious to know: what would it actually take for a brand to dethrone Apple or Samsung? Is it innovation, ecosystem, price, or just marketing power?

Quale sostituto medio gamma per un Oppo find x5 Quale sostituto medio gamma per un Oppo find x5

I need to replace my Oppo Find X5. It's not a top-tier phone, but it was (and still is) a solid performer. I'm wondering if there are any current mid-range phones that can match the performance, battery, and camera of the X5? I'd also like to know if today's mid-range processors are better than what was considered high-end four years ago, and if they're comparable to the X5's Snapdragon. Basically, can I get a phone that feels as good as my X5 without spending a fortune on a flagship?

Are screen protectors actually useful? 🤔📱 Are screen protectors actually useful? 🤔📱

I’m stuck with a dilemma and curious what you all think.
Everyone always says “slap on a screen protector immediately or your display will be full of scratches”. But how useful are they really?

  • Scratches → How fast do they actually appear? Is it really just keys/coins in your pocket… or can your screen even get scratched by fingernails?

  • Protection → Do those thin glass or plastic protectors actually keep your phone safe when you drop it, or is it more of a placebo because you feel like there’s something covering it?

  • Carefulness → Do you really need to baby your phone (separate pocket, always cleaning it, never with keys)… or are modern screens tough enough to handle daily abuse

your experience?

  • Do you always use screen protectors, or do you think they’re pointless?

  • Have you ever had a real drop where the protector actually saved your screen?

  • And how careful are you with your phone in daily life?

I’d love to hear your stories maybe this could turn into a little myth about phones and screen protectors

and be sure to let us know which phone you use :)

Copied Android on PC via USB, safe to just copy it all into new phone? Copied Android on PC via USB, safe to just copy it all into new phone?

The touchscreen died, so I was only able to plug in my PC's USB and simply copy all that appeared on PC's explorer (DCIM folder etc.).

The 'Android' subfolder is the largest folder, but I don't even know what's really in it.

Is it ok to just copy everything onto the new Android phone, or will it mess things up if I do anything more than pics?

Apple Car Play Apple Car Play

I only use PCs both laptop and desktop, but prefer the iPhone and the Apple OS because I love Apple Car Play (sorry GM). First, all GM cars are blind to Apple Car Play. With ACP you can text by voice, you don't have to set up your music and podcasts in advance and can tell SIRI to send a text to person X or person Y. You can tell SIR to play X podcast or X song. You can access voicemails, past texts and tell WAZE where you want to go without ever touching the phone.

Are the Chinese phones actually much better? Are the Chinese phones actually much better?

Trying to wrap my head around something lately as I've acquired a P9P. When you search up for the best phones of the year, you always get the usual samsung, iphone, pixel flagships but are we being honest? You have competitors such as Vivo,Oppo, Xiaomi, OP that literally are as twice better and for the same prices more or less Larger batteries, Twice or triple faster charging speed, twice the display brightness, processors, ram and all of that are literally much better hardware wise, designs and build quality is also on point. People say chinese phones have worse software but using an OP5T it seemed as good as a Pixel, i can't speak for other brands but let's be honest, the software experience cant be that bad if you do some tweaking it can get very stock Are cameras that different? The Chinese are literally packing dslr lenses on their phones. Let's discuss why these phones are not talked about more and bought more, is it the importing issues or availability?

S25 Ultra vs iPhone 16 Pro Max – Need advice from people who actually use them S25 Ultra vs iPhone 16 Pro Max – Need advice from people who actually use them

Hey everyone,

I’ve been an Android guy my whole life, and now I’m thinking of switching things up. I know both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max are absolute beasts, and performance-wise, they’ll handle anything I throw at them.

My main concerns are:

Battery life – how much real screen-on time are you getting on average?

Battery health – after months of use, how well does it hold up? Do either of them noticeably degrade faster?

Camera quality – especially in day-to-day shots, low light, and video.

Long-term performance – does the phone stay smooth and reliable after a year or two, or does it start to slow down?

I don’t really care about gaming or resale value, but I want something reliable long-term in terms of battery and camera.

Would love to hear real-world experiences from people who’ve been using either (or both). Thanks

All smartphones should have a continuous light option in photo mode. All smartphones should have a continuous light option in photo mode.

It is frustrating when smartphones lack useful features that would be so easy for phone makers to implement. One of those features is a continuous light option in photo mode, not only in video mode. It is something I wish all smartphone cameras had.

Some smartphones such as current Samsung phones only have three flash modes in photo mode: off, auto, on. But some others such as Xiaomi/Poco have a fourth mode: continuous light.

Even though the continuous light is less bright than the short flash, here are reasons it would be useful:

  • Eye comfort: A sudden short bright flash in a dark environment could cause eye discomfort.

  • Helps adjusting the camera: If you are in a dark environment, a continuous light feature lets you point the camera and focus and adjust exposure without depending on an external light source. With the non-continuous flash, you have to hope that the camera focuses and adjusts exposure correctly. You have no control.

  • Speed: No need to focus before capturing a photo. It already focuses while the light is on.

  • Avoids disturbance: Unlike a sudden short flash, a continuous light lets you take pictures in a dim room without causing people from the other end of the room looking your way.

  • Prevents epilepsy attacks: Some people suffer from epilepsy unfortunately. A continuous light feature would be more convenient for them.

  • Illuminated burst shots: Although I rarely ever use burst mode, illuminating burst shots with no external light source is another possibility you get with a continuous light in photo mode.

For a long time, the ability to turn on and off the light while recording a video, not only before it, was missing from most phones. Thankfully, that feature is mainstream by now. I hope this will be next.

16pm or s25u from iphone 13 16pm or s25u from iphone 13

Which is better?

I plan to just use it as a average phone, doom scrolling no posting and I would like nice to take nice pictures/videos at concerts I go to..

The last one is the biggest point as silly as it seems.

I don’t dwell in photography so would I even notice a difference between the pictures/videos for both of these?

Longevity is also nice. I don’t plan to upgrade for 4-5 years after this purchase so taking into account for impacts from updates.

Apologies for a repeated post. No one ever talks about a non photographer pov and if there is any difference ( or I myself never saw any)

Both phones are in budget 1050 for s25u 1199 for 16pm

iOS to Android worth it? iOS to Android worth it?

Hey everyone, I’m currently using an iPhone 16 pro max but am considering shifting to an upper mid-range android mainly to save up some cash and try something new. I’m a cs major and have slowly come to the realization that I don’t need a top of the line phone just to do basic phone tasks. I’ve been using iPhones for quite a long time now. Used the S24U last year for a month, didn’t like it, came back to iOS mainly because it felt buggy and stuttery compared to my iPhone. I’m planning on getting the OnePlus 13 or the Galaxy S25. Is it a decision I’ll regret? (Keep in mind that I live in Bangladesh where most of the notable iPhone features aren’t used/ supported. For example, Only 1/2 people out of a 1000 iPhone users use iMessage here)

leave my phone plugged in? 🔋🤔 leave my phone plugged in? 🔋🤔

I keep hearing completely different advice about charging and I'm honestly confused.

Some people say “It's fine, modern batteries stop charging at 100% anyway.” Others are like “Nope, always unplug at 80% if you want your battery to last.”

Personally, I usually just leave my phone plugged in overnight, which means it sits at 100% with that little “trickle charge.” But is that actually bad for the battery long term?

I read that lithium-ion batteries are happiest between 20% and 80%, and that keeping them at 100% while plugged in causes extra wear. But then some phones have “battery protection” features that stop charging early or time the charge to finish right before you wake up.

So what do you all do?

● Stop at 80% and unplug?

● Always go to 100% and leave it in?

● Or just YOLO and not care? 😂

I was also wondering if leaving my phone in power-saving mode works. I have a Samsung A16 and I think it would be useless to replace its battery in the future because it's not the best, and I also regret my purchase a bit, the phone does its job but I am quite careful with it

Which Android OEM makes the best "midrange" and "budget" phones? Which Android OEM makes the best "midrange" and "budget" phones?

When looking into the midrange and budget market, which OEMs do you believe have the best phones from both a hardware and software perspective?

Motorola?

Samsung (A series)?

OnePlus (Nord, Ace, etc)

Xiaomi (Poco, Redmi)?

Nothing (CMF)?

Etc.

I know older flagship phones are a great option but for the sake of this post, I don't want to include them.

Btw I'm not in the market for one right now but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Who had experience with IPhone SE 3 Who had experience with IPhone SE 3

I have 64gb version and it’s awful, it’s my first iPhone btw using it around a year, and I had bad experience, it’s hot it’s really hot, I mean like 50 degrees could be I some games, battery drain it’s crazy, also I have this experience in all games like random fps drops, in any game clash Royale, brawl starts, pubg, shad fight arena, any game have fps drops to 15 like for 5-10 sec and then everything is fine, I want to know if it’s only my issue or it’s general problem, also small screen, and it’s sucks…

Poco F7(300$) or Nothing Phone 3(500$) Poco F7(300$) or Nothing Phone 3(500$)

Hey fellow redditors, gonna buy a phone soon and just wanted opinions whether it's worth spending the extra money on the Nothing Phone 3, INR 45000 VS INR 27000 for the Poco F7, both 12+256gb versions and Snapdragon 8s gen 4 Afaik, these are the main differences

NP3 vs F7:

5+7 years os+security updates Vs 4+6 5500 mah battery Vs 7550 mah Nothing OS vs hyper os NP3 cameras are better objectively

Honestly I don't care about wireless charging or charging speeds. Please let me know if there are any other major differences and if I should be aware of something. Thank you.

I Guess It Is Time To Upgrade I Guess It Is Time To Upgrade

I own a iPhone XR (the Smithsonian took my 4) and there is no 5G but I am not on it for data, just texts and surprisingly the camera works fine - https://imgur.com/a/Mm3NohH and I charge it every night and the battery is usually 20%. Probably need to upgrade, really like my better half's 15 pro max for the clarity and speed. Yes, I have an apple watch, iPad, but I went away from Apple computers and now have an AMD based Minisforum mini computer and use Android everyday with my TV box, so what do I get?

Disappeared features Disappeared features

First, I just joined this group so howdy all! I'm hoping to find out if anyone has experienced reduced features like I have lately. My phone ain't the latest and greatest (Huawei P30 Pro) but I still really like the Leica camera system and everything else has been fine too until recently. Three or 4 months ago talk-to-text disappeared. First it seemed intermittent then it was just gone. Now, the same thing happened with the fingerprint reader. It got intermittent and then vanished. I setup face recognition but it sucks in low light.

Any ideas about what happened here? TIA

Upgrading from realme 8 to samsung galaxy a36 Upgrading from realme 8 to samsung galaxy a36

Hi today i saw an advertisment for a samsung galaxy a36 8/256 model that looks nice,my 4 year old realme 8 has slowed down quite a bit and also has some burn ins on the screen too. Is the samsung galaxy a36 worth it? Also will the burn in be a problem on it too cause they are both Super Amoled screens,I've heard that samsung uses pixel shifting technology to prevent it from happening,i dont know a lot about phones i just wanna know if it is worth it and will the burn in become a problem.

Cheap phone for VR headsets Cheap phone for VR headsets

Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a few cheap phones to use as screens within phone holding 'VR' headsets/goggles. Essentially all I need is a small screen capable of playing 4K video at 30fps. What would you recommend?

EDIT: I've been made aware that 4K is excessive for a phone screen. What would you recommend instead? I need to buy multiple screens (which is why i'm leaning towards phones instead of full VR headsets).

Xiaomi 14T dying on me… which Android phones under €500 take the best photos? Xiaomi 14T dying on me… which Android phones under €500 take the best photos?

Hey everyone,

I could really use some advice. I take a lot of photos and videos with my phone, and until recently my Xiaomi 14T was doing a great job. I was super happy with it — fast, reliable, and the photo quality was solid. But over the last few weeks it started acting up in really frustrating ways.

The main issue is the camera: it randomly freezes for several minutes at a time, and the only way to “fix” it is to close all apps… but even then, most of the time it doesn’t recover properly. On top of that, I sometimes get this weird bug where a photo turns completely pink, even though it looked totally fine when I pressed the shutter. It’s honestly making the phone unusable for photography, which is the main thing I need it for.

For context:

  • I live in France, but I’m totally open to buying a phone from abroad if it means better value or more choice.

  • I’m 100% set on staying with Android (personal preference, I really don’t want to switch to iPhone).

  • My budget is around €500 max.

  • One feature I’d love to have in my next phone is the ability to take decent shots of the moon — something the 14T just can’t do.

So, with all that in mind: which Android phones would you recommend in this price range? Camera performance is my top priority, but I’d also love something reliable that won’t start glitching after just a year.

Thanks in advance for your help!
