Washington’s seventh-round rookie running back, who prefers to go by Bill, rushed for 82 yards on 10 carries, including a six-yard touchdown in the first half and a 42-yard gain that put the game on ice late in the fourth quarter. Croskey-Merritt showed agility and burst on his touchdown run, avoiding a potential tackle for loss by bouncing the play to the outside and outrunning everyone to the end zone, which looked gorgeous with the return of the painted helmets. Then, just as he did after his first touchdown in the preseason, Croskey-Merritt forgot to keep the ball.
