Just make sure it lives life to the fullest. Let it go outside and roam free, do not jail it in your home. I was in the same situation as you a few years back, mine died at 2 years old and seeing it go was the saddest thing in my life because I kept it inside my home, where I tought it would be the safest, but all it accomplished was making its life sader than it already was.
If your cat can die anytime, make sure it lives a joyous life at all time.
That probably makes no sense to you, but I wish my old cat could've been more free.
