honest to god, I think that since I did the music for free he just assumed that it must be even easier to get someone to do it for pay & he’d just be able to replace me, when in reality my contribution was at a level of professional quality you can’t even reliably pay for. it was so densely orchestrated and in key with the animation that you could follow the narrative with your eyes closed but so seamless & in service of the film that people could forget it was even there.

I think I hate the kind of conceptual art that gets showcased on tiktok explaining it’s meaning and all the comments are like “wow, this is proof that conceptual art can be powerful….” because the found object was written to contain a take they agree with, although I’ve also seen very layered conceptual pieces be misrepresented by viral posts online (depressed robot arm) so I’m growing more certain that the tik tokkers are just making the art seem shallower through their refusal to understand conceptual art through an aesthetic lens
