Last week I predicted that we would not get a teaser for the game...incorrectly. Booo. So let's try it again lol. Will we see the Star Wars game this week? I'm guessing no, we won't get to see it until Tuesday, September 9th. Hopefully I don't go 0 for 2 Haha. Why is that my guess? Well, Stern is scheduled to show the game off to the media at its Elk Grove Village, Illinois factory on Wednesday, September 10th. I expect the reveal to be fairly close to that date. We'll see...
In the meantime, here's what I've been hearing about the game. Please keep in mind that I have NOT seen it yet and these rumors do not come directly from Stern. Here we go:
- The game only has two flippers
- Instead of the amazing, incredible, iconic All Terrain Armored Transport aka AT-AT as the game's main toy, it contains the less impressive All Terrain Scout Transport or AT-ST. I hope that this one isn't true.
- Whichever the game has AT-AT, or AT-ST it is in all three versions of the game, Pro, Premium and LE.
- The sculpted Jabba the Hutt that the game's designer John Borg showed off during his stream of Data East's Star Wars last week is only in the Premium and Limited Edition versions of the game.
- Raymond Davidson is doing the game's code.
- The game is not some sort of original storyline with original art like Stern's Dungeons and Dragons. It contains film clips from Star Wars Episodes 4 through 6.
- The art for the game is being done by an artist who is new to pinball.
- The new Star Wars game will not be available for sale in Europe initially because the licensing for Star Wars is different there than it is in the United States.
So there you have it. All the rumor and speculation about the next Stern pin that you can handle :). I suspect that most of it will be right, but you never know until the game comes out.
