IF Azumanga was contemporary with that happening, it wouldn't be too surprising if Ayumu had that video (as in one of the MP4s of the livestream) on her computer, as she's morbid and - implied in vidrel scene - does some weird stuff online that she'd rather keep secret. If any of them would be hanging out on 4chan, it'd be her. But then again they're Japs, thus can't understand English, so she obviously wouldn't be on 4chan – but the news and vid probably made its way to some Japanese imageboards. Imagine her sending the video to all her friends, including Chiyo even.

(by the way the files named "bsckol.mp4" [CRC: B7AAD1F3] and "ecpjxt.mp4" [CRC: A557364E] are the best quality ones available; all other versions have more compression artifacts and are later-made re-encodes – btw "bsckol" and "ecpjxt" despite their different hashes and filesizes contain the exact same video; the two are pixel-level identical in image quality, but the audio is different: "bsckol" has 64 kb/s audio while "ecpjxt" has 48 kb/s audio; why is unknown, and it's unlikely either audio is a re-encode of the other as it makes little sense why only the audio would've been re-encoded during a conversion or recompression and not the video as well; one possibility is they're both original encodes from the livestream but are different bitrates because the livestream's audio was served in a 64 kb/s version and a 48 kb/s version and someone downloaded one version and someone else the other – in any case it's hard to hear any difference)

So its completely believable to assume she'd try finding refuge online, specifically on boards like 4chan or other places on the internet that could've housed shit like the Christchurch livestream. I've met a good few Japanese people in the past who idolised Brenton tarrant, that's where you get all of those jap eurobeat edits of the shooting from.

CRC sucks for comparing files, it's possible to change the CRC to something you want (especially with videos). Only good if you're checking for errors in transmitting the data.
Use SHA256 for that o algo.

The "bsckol.mp4" and "ecpjxt.mp4" files are 360p though. Nobody saved the livestream in any higher resolution than that, it seems. Maybe it didn't stream in higher than 360p to begin with, but it would be a bit strange if it didn't have a 480p option at least. I have a 480p file but it's much worse quality than those two.

As for why Ayumu is so unnaturally thin and weak it's very likely because she starves herself as a result of having been bullied (earlier) or (or this too) due to some sort of abuse (how she is written screams "CSA victim" as she shows many symptoms of that) - it's far from crystal clear, but she was probably raped by her neighbor in Osaka who she apparently killed (as when he became a ghost he went after her, and she isn't surprised that he's following her, and she wouldn't have killed him for no reason). But yeah she may've had some family issues as well. Maybe she was raped by her father in addition to by her neighbor.

Tomo btw might've been abused as well but obviously not as hard. She says her father used to play some "game" with her where he undressed her (spun her around while she wore a yukata - the spinning motion would've left her naked) while saying something like "huh? you guys didn't play that game???" like she thinks it's normal and is confused they didn't do that too, and in some episode someone mentions Tomo's father and she makes a weird face and sound to show disapproval and to like indicate her father is weird or something.

Maybe that's why so many transvestites and homosexuals like this show nowadays… ALTHOUGH I doubt Azuma intended Ayumu to be anything more than just a "Stupid girl being stupid" and the few implications of her being abused, having "suicidal thoughts" (Like wanting to fly away when they were on the roof), etc. are just jokes that are not meant to be taken super seriously, but knowing how there were and still are many mentally ill Japanese people, including teenagers, then there might actually be a darker undertone.

Azumanga has some "serious" things going on, here and there, of various sorts, but everything takes the form of comedy or has a comedic tone. Due to that and how it's all mixed up or intertwined with all the funny stuff that goes on it's easy to miss that there's anything serious anywhere. And the serious stuff is never gone into by the narrative and elaborated on or explained, it's just briefly touched on and often leaves more questions than answers.

Azumanga is like… if you have a bunch of different food items, most of them sweet-tasting but some of them sour and bitter and a few are actually rotten or moldy, and then you throw them ALL into a blender and add a massive amount of sugar. Then blend everything together. The resulting blend is Azumanga. Upon tasting, due to most of the items being sweet and due to the extreme amount of sugar, you may not sense anything other than the sweetness - yet those other things are still part of the blend.
