the way the sound is handled makes it feel real in some way, it reminds me of how No Country for Old Men does it

The guys in the Toyota van are communist terrorists, and the one who jumps into the river later gets tortured (by the good guys!) for information - pics related - and it's revealed the commies had been working for the jews, having been told by them to destroy Japan.

Beware the English dub (and even one version of the subtitles) is HEAVILY censored in the dialogue; for the dubbed release in the West they (not the original creators, but whatever Western company that was doing the dubbing etc) removed ALL mentions of "jews" so the word doesn't even exist anywhere anymore (they replaced "jewish investors" with "Americans", to make the bad guys Americans instead of jews), and in this vidrel scene they replaced the dialogue with an anti-Hitler speech.

So someone watching this anime in English, or with censored subtitles, get a very different experience than someone who sees it in Japanese with uncensored subs.
