Why is he hated so much?

 105673[Quote]>>105679>>105681

He's funny asf, people who hate him are all newtroon azumanga "fans" from tiktok who haven't even watched the show.

Can't recall ever seeing people saying they hate or even dislike him until a few years ago, and whenever someone has posted anti-Kimura comments on YouTube it's usually evident by their channel content they discovered Azu in like 2021-23 or so when it got popular again. However I doubt most of them are tiktokers who haven't seen the series. The ones I've encountered, most anyway, obviously have seen Azumanga but they're also obviously just teenagers - many giving the impression of being in their early teens, even. So while they almost certainly use tiktok etc due to being youngsters, it's probably mainly a generational difference and not that they're all "coming from tiktok" or anything like that. Seems to me it's just younger people, the latest generation(s?), thinking differently about Azu - and thinking incorrectly about it, often somehow managing to not understand even fundamental stuff like how Osaka isn't an Osakan and rather thinking she's super-duper ultra Osakan.

i havent heard or seen anyone hating him, though i dont use tiktok or watch many videos on jewtube related to azumanga so that may be why. if i had to guess, then those who do dislike kimura are probably pretty young and see him more as a morally wrong character to be disliked and creeped out by than a humorous one to geg at. why they think this way i dont really know, maybe theyre incapable of seeing jokes about people being creepy or perverted as just jokes and have to instead overreact because theyre a foid or they were raped as a kid or something

trannies hate xim, because xe reminds xhem of xheir pedo vices (evendoe Kimura is just autistic)

What did he mean by this?

>What did he mean by this?
exactly what you think it means. also, what a fucking way to put Chiyo in imminent danger, that dumbass Osaka. I love the Azu but that comic panel being canon is insane.

Bad translation that also misses the point entirely, misses the joke; the joke being that school-grade-wise Chiyo is at the same level as the others; she's a highschooler too - in that sense she's no different, than the others. Here's the page from ADV Omnibus for comparison. It better conveys the intended meaning.

In Japanese the dialogue is:

> 女子高生好きって

> ちよちゃんは
> どーなんですかぁ?
> Joshikousei sukitte Chiyochan wa do nan desu ka?
> You like highschool girls, what about Chiyo-chan?

> これはこれで

> Kore wa kore de.
> It is what it is.

> なるほどぉ

> Naruhodo.
> Makes sense (the most appropriate way to translate it considering the context, but of course Naruhodo itself can be translated as "I see" and "I understand" as well)

Should be noted that aside from the joke, the dialogue also serves another purpose: it's a subtle character-building moment for Ayumu; it shows the audience she's well-aware there are adults who like little girls and she'd even assumed Kimura might like Chiyo in that way and she's totally calm about it; she doesn't freak out or anything, quite the contrary she just accepts reality for what it is. That's part of the side of her, the aspect of her, that has what one might call a brutally realistic outlook on life: she accepts and points out Maya will turn into a skeleton; she's happy for Sakaki she got Maya but she knows Maya has a short lifespan or might get sick or whatever so it won't last forever, and accepts/predicts/assumes Chiyo will get kidnapped in America (because she's rich and easy to grab) and knows her high intelligence won't prevent her from getting killed. And so on, such things. That aspect of her character.

Of course while Ayumu assumed Kimura might like Chiyo (simply because she knows such men exist), he has zero interest in her. He repeatedly demonstrates that he only likes girls with large breasts, ruthlessly ignoring Ayumu twice (Ep4 7m0s & Ep11 10m34s) because her breasts are tiny and showing interest in Kagura because her breasts are above average in size. And no, he does not have any actual interest in Kaorin (something many of the new Azu fans fail to understand); he's simply trying to – because he sees it as his duty (and his behavior is a joke playing on the Japanese idea that dykes should be correctively raped) – straighten her out, and he thinks he can because he perceives himself as some sort of gigachad and doesn't at all understand how he comes off to her (and to others); Kimura is oblivious to how others see him.
