The Fall of Chris Epps

Icarus fell because his hubris. Corrections Commissioner Chris Epps fell for the same reason. He flew too close to the sun -- in this case greed and in the process destroyed many people's faith in good government. Today he pled guilty to two counts -- of many. I take no joy in it. Or this cartoon. I personally liked Chris and am disappointed in him. Last summer, I spoke to the Department of Corrections banquet. The commissioner gave me a framed proclamation and a Commissioner's coin for my integrity. Today that framed proclamation becomes more valuable -- and ironic.
