Republicans cry “socialism” whenever Democrats talk about health care or public investment. But look at Donald Trump. He is already practicing his own version of socialism. He uses government subsidies, contracts, and regulatory power to pressure private companies into doing what he wants. That’s the state directing business, plain and simple. Call it what you want, but it looks a lot like the socialism they claim to hate.
