I've been into Internet Archiving since 2019 and i've been using the Internet Archive since 2020 and I've archived thousands and thousands of pages, I've created indexes of them, and targeted archiving web pages that are at risk. I have devoted several hundreds of hours of my time to this.
Yet lately there's been a number of problems with the IA and the wayback machine. It crashes all the time, fails to archive a number of webpages and websites, it's been crashing and timing out so much recently, there's no easy way to search it and it takes far too long. Not to mention multiple lawsuits may threaten it's very existence and if there's a big enough settlement it could even make them go bankrupt if they lose. I also dislike how you can only save a certain number of pages at a time.
I have never ran into any of these problems on archive.today and it completely self indexes itself, I can be archiving on multiple tabs at once, and many other stuff that the Internet Archive completely fails to do.
Any thoughts? Should I switch completely? Why would the IA or archive.today be better? How can the Wayback Machine fix itself and be a better Internet Archive again?
