So in the aftermath of the 500 errors that blew up the Viz website the other day, it looks like Andrew Hussie has started signal boosting the unofficial collection. This is huge in so many ways I'm not even sure how to react right now
Well, that's a wrap on Flash. Lots of great niche content is gonna be way harder to access from now, but never impossible. I'm imagining obscure flash archives being circulated like bootleg tapes. It's rad.
Pass The Unofficial Homestuck Collection to a friend today!
Hiya! The archive isn't censored by default, but I intentionally designed it to make edits like this possible. Homestuck's full text is stored in plain HTML in '{Asset Pack}/archive/data/mspa.json'. Make the changes you want to see, and share them around!
It's only been about a week since version 1.0 launched, but my tiny brain still can't really comprehend the scale of the initial response. To everyone who shared it with their friends, and to everyone who showed their support through donations, thank you all so much.
I haven't really posted anything over the past year, but the modding update is making great progress! Everything's public on GitHub for the curious, and it's been turning into an absolute monster of a release. Please look forward to it!
This update mostly covers the short-term stuff I wanted to get in there while the iron was still hot. The next update will probably take longer, and cover the extended modding system I was musing about a few days ago. Let's see how it goes!
Thank you all for the overwhelming amount of support! Somehow I really wasn't expecting a reaction this massive... A few people have been encouraging me to accept donations, so there's a new link in my bio. If you really like what I do, please consider checking it out!
. Without the overwhelming amount of passion and ingenuity he poured into it over the past year, this literally never would have been possible. Please consider donating if you appreciate his work!
This update changes a lot about how the program works, and sets up a ton of new and exciting stuff for future updates. Because of this, 2.0 will require an updated V2 asset pack. There's a patch available to convert your V1 pack to V2, or you can download the whole thing fresh.
I'm experimenting with ways to make the Homestuck collection more accessible. Homestuck's font can be difficult to read sometimes, but I always found zooming with ctrl +/- to be an inconvenient solution for multiple reasons. Maybe this could help?
Small Homestuck Collection update - Should squash a bunch of bugs we've seen crop up over the past week. Also adds support for 32-bit Windows, among other stuff. Huge thanks to everyone who reported stuff over on the GitHub tracker! It really helps a lot.
Sorry for reposting the announcement, Twitter seems to be removing the sound from the announcement video. Not sure what to do about that, but it is what it is I guess. You can check it out with on Youtube.
Just wanted to boost the visibility of this information. The data the archive reads from is completely open, so make whatever changes you want to it!

You can play the game here.
I think it contains some of the coolest stuff I have ever done.
If you like particular stuff that happens in the Homestuck Collection, I think there are parts of this you will love. Please check it out if you have the time.
got me brainstorming ways to streamline UHSC's modding process. The current method of sharing a whole 10mb JSON feels cumbersome, and makes it impossible to use multiple mods at once without mashing them together yourself. I'll try to do something about it.
got in touch over a year ago about programming a small game, and I've been working on it in the background ever since. It may have stopped being "small" in the meantime. Credit also goes to
#oceanfalls Oceanfalls update, it's a... playable game! Wow!
You can play this walkaround right HERE on desktop:

Thanks to cool people (credited on the page) for BIG help & contributions, I never could've done it alone!
We're testing a solution for the 'Sharp' error that's been causing trouble the past few months. If you've been affected by it, it'd be massive help if you could try this release and let us know if it solves the issue!
, and I spent a little time bringing the very first Oceanfalls game up to date with the new engine. Changes include: its dark! you might be in danger now

Fan translations probably won't be bundled in as a default option, but I'm looking to make the process of creating and installing them much more convenient for fans in the future!
There's a way to adjust your progress at the very top of the settings page. Click the button to switch off new reader mode, then enter your desired page number into the box and re-activate it. That should get you where you need to be!
Very much noted! This change probably won't make it live for a good while, since I'm trying to keep asset pack updates as infrequent and substantial as possible. It'll happen, though!
Yeah, everything should be stored in ~/.config/unofficial-homestuck-collection/config.json. The updating process is just "download v1.1 and run it", so not too much can go wrong!
Thanks for the feedback! I I wasn't able to format the openbound transcripts for the search corpus in time for release, since there was a lot of supplemental text mixed in that needed removing. This would probably be something I include in a substantial update to the asset pack.
This one was a super weird case. Since the image was distributed through the actual page, I couldn't think of a way to fit it into the program in a way that made sense. The actual image is still in the asset pack at /storyfiles/hs2/scraps/calliope.gif, so maybe it's fine?
It's important to remember a lot of this stuff is comprised of insignificant doodles a guy was making for fun like 15 years ago. The line here is deciding what's absolutely worth dredging up in spite of his efforts to distance himself from his previous work.
This is a bug that got introduced with a font rendering change to chromium back in 2014. I managed to work around it by editing the flash a little, but that won't make it live until I can gather a substantial enough quantity of changes to justify a v2 release of the asset pack.
In general, most omissions like this were intentional. Archiving the older stuff was kind of an ethical nightmare, and deciding what was important enough to keep never had a clear answer. I think I crossed a line with a few inclusions, so I'm not really up for pushing it further.
