Sister Theresa to Receive Award for Church Research

Congratulations to Sister Theresa Knabel recipient of the 2025 Rev. Louis J. Luzbetak, SVD, Award for Exemplary Church Research. She is honored for documenting enslaved families and descendants connected to the Congregation. The award will be presented Nov. 13, 2025, at Georgetown University by CARA during a special celebration.

Sister Trudy & SCNs Help Open New School in Memphis

Trudy Foster, SCN, served on the School Board and worked hard to bring this effort forward. The SCN Community gave a grant to help open the school.

Sharing Christian Meditation with Children

The Nazareth Retreat Center welcomed 41 children for Spirit of the Wild, a four-day summer camp that included Christian Meditation. Through silence, stillness, and simple presence, campers learned to pause, reflect, and connect with God. The experience encouraged awareness, peace, and care for creation in a joyful, nature-filled setting.

Living Faith Fully at Nazareth Home

Residents of Nazareth Home, founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, participate in daily Mass and prayer, deepening their spiritual lives. Many say aging has allowed more time for reflection and connection with Christ. The home supports their faith with daily worship and access to chapel.

Nurturing Hope: Seeds of Peace and Hope

Sisters of Charity of Nazareth gathered in St. Vincent de Paul Church Tuesday for a presentation to mark the opening of the 2025 Season of Creation. The presentation, “Nurturing Hope: Seeds of Peace and Hope”, was led by the Western Province Office of Social and Environmental Justice. The discussion offered Sisters a starting point for reflection, prayer, and dialogue as they entered into this global season dedicated to care for God’s creation.

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth minister in Marereni, Kenya, through education, pastoral outreach, and clean water initiatives. Their presence strengthens families and parish life, expressed in one parish as “Good family, good church. Good church, good family.” Rooted in simplicity, their mission grows with local support and global connection.

The Office of Mission Advancement is pleased to welcome Tate Hill as our newest intern. Tate is a 17-year-old senior at Bardstown High School who brings a strong background in communications and media to his role at Nazareth.

The Associate Relationship in Kenya

Associate Candidates in Kenya met with Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and a visiting Candidate from Kentucky to pray, share, and plan for the future. Six women in formation since 2024 bring gifts as catechists, parish leaders, and teachers, strengthening the SCN mission through prayer, service, and community.

CommonSpirit Health Visits Nazareth

CommonSpirit Health Visits Nazareth

On July 30, Nazareth hosted a visit with the leadership of CommonSpirit Health. This visit provided a chance for connection and sharing and included a tour of Heritage Hall and discussions of current ministries and topics such as social justice and the environment, and ended with a blessing in St. Vincent Chapel.
