From 1950 - 1951, a wave of bombings targeted synagogues across Iraq. Though many in the West blamed Arab Iraqis at the time, Jewish-Iraqi historian Avi Shlaim later concluded “without any doubt that the Zionist Underground, with Israeli involvement, was responsible for three of the bombs.” The goal was to sow religious/ethnic discord while convincing Iraqi Jews that their lives were in danger, and that they could only be safe in Israel. Shlaim was given documents by a Likudnik member of the Zionist Underground in Iraq showing that the bombings were carried out by Yusef Basri, under the direction of another Israeli spy, Max Bineth. A website dedicated to Bineth and maintained by his family confirms that “in 1949, Bineth joined Israeli Intelligence and was sent to Iraq on a secret mission.” Five years later, Bineth took his own life in an Egyptian prison after he was caught once again recruiting Arab Jews to carry out false flag bombings — this time targeting civilian buildings in Egypt owned by the US and Britain as part of Mossad’s “Operation Susannah.” Somewhere down the road, I suspect we’ll discover Max Bineth was not an aberration.
