Unacceptable. by HarmoniaTheConfuzzld in TransgendersAtWar

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We haven't proved anything by one trans person committing a violent act. The facts remain that way more crime is committed by white cis het men than any minority. The demonization of trans people on the internet and the news due to this is not on us. It is on the people spreading hate and using the crime as propaganda to further push us down.

Honest question by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biological function of a woman is not to carry a child or raise a family, that is something a women or a trans man can do if they have the desire and do not have one of many natural conditions that can lead to infertility, or if they even have a womb since there are cis women born without all the reproductive organs sometimes. Boiling down a woman's function to being able to pump out and raise babies is a misogynistic view of what a woman is. It is more a trait of people who have specific female reproductive organs, but it is not something they are required to do, or something they will choose to do. Sex and gender are not the same thing

Gender is socially constructed but that doesn't mean that it isn't something that exists and impacts people from a neurological and biological level. We have made gender into something that is part of human neural development through it being part of how we have evolved. People are more or less born with the gender identity they will always have, even if not every trans person will know or accept what their gender identity is from the same time in their life

risky question by Dry-Wave-5638 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asserting that trans people are not the gender they say they are is an innately confrontational statement. You do not have say over someone else's personal identity, they know their identity better than you know their identity. Just because you can not comprehend how sex and gender are different things, and how you can change both of those independently of each other does not give credit to the statement that transgender people are not the gender they identify as.

What should I do? by Cycadpalm77 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please realize that it is incredibly easy to find other media to enjoy and that it is way more important to not support a transphobic super rich person than to watch HP. I was very into HP as a kid as well, I read all the books multiple times, watched the movies multiple times, and played some of the licensed games.

I love the time I spent with HP in my youth, but I will never go back to it again because I refuse to support Rowling in any way. Her funding is actively contributing to the suffering of potentially thousands to tens of thousands of Trans or more people and no media franchise is good enough to justify that harm, even if I don't know each affected person

Could I be trans if I don't meet the medical criteria for gender dysphoria? by r8m3250503 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need dysphoria to be trans. Dysphoria can be something trans people experience, but it is not the thing that makes someone trans

How can i as someone if they are trans in a friendly way? by EarlyPattern6315 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then just say that you are dating to Mary and have kids, you don't have to ask them if they are trans. If they can't have kids or don't want to then you can not waste their or your time by being clear about your intentions, not about asking if they are trans or not

How can i as someone if they are trans in a friendly way? by EarlyPattern6315 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you would not date someone based on them being trans or not, please just do not date anyone. If they are enjoying your company and want to tell you, they will, and if things have a chance of becoming intimate, they likely will tell you.

I don't care if you have a preference for certain genitals in intimate scenarios, but just say that when things have a chance of becoming intimate

Using AI by lewis3750 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, I am glad you are figuring yourself out so please continue trying to explore your identity and find actual community or people that can help with anything if you want to transition. That being said, you don't need an ai to have those kinds of conversations or quizzes. Please stop using the environment destroying machines that scrape your data. Data centers for AI take up so much fresh water that there are places that are asking people to cut back on showers so there is more water for cooling the stupid machines

Trump Admin Bans Coverage For Trans Govt Employees, Mandates Conversion Therapy Coverage by WLW_Girly in TransgendersAtWar

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I already hated working for the US government in any capacity as a mail carrier, but this stings so much since I just got to the point I became an actual career employee... like, there are very few other jobs in my area I could get that would pay me enough to survive, most that do require more college degrees than I have or can afford. I finally get a position that not only pays decently, but also has some benefits, and I can't feel happy about it.

Is it okay if I want other people online to refer to me as a girl? by ILoveAnimeGuys in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to pretend to be a woman, it sounds like you are already a woman but you are putting a limit on yourself and thinking you need permission to start presenting like that in any situation. Even if you can't socially transition yet in your everyday life, you can socially transition online in safe spaces

So a person actively advocating for the safety of children on the platform is getting beaten down by the owners of said platform because the owners are getting money from a platform that includes putting kids in potentially exploitative situations? My god I hate corpos

4yo "daughter" says "she"'s a boy, dad is a MAGA by jjmcsparklenut7 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If your child does decide that he no longer identifies as a boy, then you just continue to affirm them as your child finds out what fits best for them. If your child thinks that maybe they might actually be a girl, or they feel like they might not be a boy or a girl, or if they stay feeling like a boy, you just show that you support them and make sure they have a stable support structure for navigating gender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both demi-girl and demi-boy are gender identities. Gender fluid is a thing, even if you choose to present more in one way or another. If anyone laughs at you for identifying some way, they don't deserve your time and presence and there are plenty of people who would support your identity

How to respond to this website? by DaphneGrace1793 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The response is that in most professional sports trans athletes are supposed to be able to provide documentation that they have been on hormone therapy since even if a trans woman has gone through male puberty, the effects of feminizing hrt would remove any biological advantage if they had been on it for long enough.

How to rule physically moving large objects by Real_Kaiyell in DnD

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Questions, what classes and level are the characters involved. Is there anything stopping spellcasters from using magic to interact with the boulder or other aspects of the cave. What are the stakes of not opening the cave as soon as possible. How heavy do you want the boulder to be, since if you want it to be movable you should look into what the maximum weight your party can actually move feasibly is.

Did not like hormones by Suspicious_Eye_2470 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, you do not need to take hormones to be trans, if you are worried that not liking the effects estrogen was giving you somehow doesn't make you trans, that is just not how it works despite what transmeds might try to tell you.

Secondly, some people's bodies respond differently to different methods of taking hormones, if they were pills sometimes that affects people differently than patches to absorb through the skin or direct injections.

I'm 17y may have figured out that I'm trans but it seem to quick and I'm doubting that I am by Silent_Path_4422 in asktransgender

[–]Aster_the_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do not need to have years of wishing you were another gender to be trans. You could be mostly indifferent or enjoy being a guy or a girl and then just figure out that presenting as another gender makes you feel better and that is just as valid.

If you are feeling happier presenting and identifying as a trans woman, then congratulations, you are trans. You are discovering yourself, and what makes you feel comfortable and happy in your identity, the only person that can make your decision for you is you. Try not to let yourself get caught up in the harmful rhetoric. You can be trans without dysphoria, you can be trans without medically transitioning, you can be trans even if you hadn't had many thoughts of being a different gender in the past.
