What is the JICA African Hometown Initiative?
      Background and Purpose

      Approach

      •
Taking TICAD9 as an opportunity, we will connect regions and
Africa with the aim of "Regional Revitalization 2.0" and the

development of Africa, and build new, mutually beneficial "co
      -
creation" to resolve each region's challenges.

      •
We will further share the knowledge and experience gained
      through co
-creation with African countries and local governments
      among our hometowns.

      •
Issue certificates of recognition to local governments that connect
      with Africa.

      •
      Hold an annual Hometown Summit.
      •
Increase opportunities for regular exchange with Africa and
information dissemination in each Hometown, promoting

connections between various actors and people.

      •
JICA also provides opportunities to connect with Africa through
African trainees, JOCVs, and JICA projects.
      Hometown Summit (once a year)
Support for visits under JICA training programs, collaboration
