What is the JICA African Hometown Initiative? Background and Purpose Approach •Taking TICAD9 as an opportunity, we will connect regions and Africa with the aim of "Regional Revitalization 2.0" and the development of Africa, and build new, mutually beneficial "co- creation" to resolve each region's challenges. •We will further share the knowledge and experience gained through co-creation with African countries and local governments among our hometowns. •Issue certificates of recognition to local governments that connect with Africa. •Hold an annual Hometown Summit. •Increase opportunities for regular exchange with Africa and information dissemination in each Hometown, promoting connections between various actors and people. •JICA also provides opportunities to connect with Africa through African trainees, JOCVs, and JICA projects.
