New England grid operator says Revolution Wind stop-work order risks reliability

The Trump administration's decision to freeze construction of the nearly completed Revolution Wind offshore wind project in New England "will increase risks to reliability" amid already rising electricity demand, the region’s independent system operator said Monday.
The warning comes after the Trump Interior Department ramped up its efforts to stymie the growth of renewable energy Friday by ordering the offshore wind farm that was expected to begin supplying power to the region next year to halt work.
"Through the region’s wholesale markets, Revolution Wind has committed to helping meet New England’s demand for electricity, beginning in 2026," ISO-New England said in a statement. "The ISO is expecting this project to come online and it is included in our analyses of near-term and future grid reliability."
The administration has undertaken several actions to erode federal support for renewable energy, including sweeping actions to block offshore wind development — even as the administration confronts potential political pain from rising electricity prices.
