Capacitors have a ground. So one side of the cap will always be shorted to ground. I have done some of those blue light ones before. Send me a pic of the full motherboard and I will circle which areas to test.

Caps around apu are low resistance. They will read as shorts

This is wild. Okay the heat sink clamp is on backwards. The dimple on it is supposed to face down. It would also be easier to help if we saw the area you were soldering in. Around the hdmi port. Psu shouldn’t need to be opened when area worked on was the main motherboard.

I have never heard of a phone shop being skilled enough to use a multimeter and find short circuits. I supposed there could be one but i haven’t heard. This is coming from a guy that knows how to use a multimeter and done short circuits on gaming laptops and consoles. Most of my customers that brought their device to a phone shop for no power tell me that shop couldn’t fix it. Than I find a shorted capacitor and I am just in disbelief that they couldn’t figure it out…..

Check for short circuits. I done plenty for ps5s send me a message and I can help.

Could be a short circuit or a bad power supply. Those external supplies are known for being trashy

Make sure the power supply is plugged in nice to the main board and the south bridge board. Make sure the data cable from the south bridge board and main board is connected to both boards nice. Too much or little thermal paste shouldn’t effect the system in terms of it Turing off and off in a second or two

Yeah I done hundreds of controllers. I can do them in about 15 minutes. Calibration is just soldering on an appropriate resistor to center the analog if needed.

Would recommend getting an ifix kit. That would really let you get into anything. But if that kit is cheap and you think your only gonna use it once in a blue moon than I would say go for it.

Never take consoles to ubif. They have no idea what they are doing. They only train their people on screen replacements. Consoles they could care less about. They aren’t very skilled either. Lacking on multimeter use. Wouldn’t be surprised if I walked in the back of a ubif and asked them how continuity mode works on a meter and none would know

Test the hdmi encoder. I have fixed ps5s before that have beeped and no lights because of the encoder. To test see if the capacitors around it are shorted to ground. If they are remove the chip. Check them again. Short gone??? YESS replace chip

Yes you are in the right setting. First I would check that fuse firstly. To do that you would put both probes on both ends of the fuse. If it beeps the fuse should be good. This gives you an idea if there’s a short in that area or not

You can measure your current psu with a multimeter. This will tell you if your psu is dead. Meaning get a new one. The psu isn’t dead? Shorts on motherboard/other issues than

Hmmm looks like the potentiometers aren’t the issue to me. It seems that the whole analog module is damaged. Could have happened in many different ways but somehow damaged. Replace whole analog

Lies. 99% of the time if a console comes in for repair for and hdmi port and the unit still turns on. It’s just the hdmi port. They either ripped some solder pads or their god awful soldering on the hdmi pins is shit. I would call them and ask exactly what’s wrong with it. Also ask for them to send you a pic of the soldering. Doubt they will answer either one. THIS IS WHY UBREAKIFIX SUCKS

Yeah ubreakifix sucks. They use bottom of the barrel tools, parts, and supplies. I hope you get your ps5 back safely dude. They tend to destroy any repair that requires soldering. They teach soldering wrong, and use cheap soldering supplies, (that’s if they even bother buying certain supplies) Also ps they don’t honor there warranty. They will tell you it’s your fault there god awful repair only worked for 3 days
