Czech Republic: The manufacturer has posted a video on social media showing its 12th six-car ForCity Smart 38T tram at its factory in Plzeň.
The vehicle will soon be dispatched to Germany for the Rhein-Neckar Transport Authority (RNV). This delivery marks the completion of Škoda Group’s first and only contract to supply these trams, which was signed in 2018.
The bi-directional six-car ForCity Smart 38T measures 58.7 m in length, making it the longest tram in the world. The previous record was held by the Urbos tram from Spanish manufacturer CAF, operating in Budapest, which is 55.9 m long with nine cars.

The variable-floor tram is designed for a 1,000 mm gauge and is based on the Artic platform. The tram bodies are manufactured at a plant in Finland, with final assembly taking place in Plzeň. Production of one 38T tram takes approximately 4.5 months. The tram can carry up to 368 passengers, including 156 seated. In April, it received approval for passenger service.
