Hello everyone,

I just moved to ROC and this move reignited my desire to starting a post rock/post metal band (basically heavy and atmospheric). I have been in several bands over the years but nothing really came out of those, thus I'd like to find committed and like-minded band members that are willing to meet regularly and work on songs, with the explicit goal of playing live and recording.

I'd be definitely looking for a drummer and a bass player, ideally a signer as well (although the genre lends itself to instrumental compositions)

This summer I have been working with two Rochester Institute of Technology students to build a music streaming app just for the Finger Lakes. Right now the app is still in Beta but we are exited to show what we have been working on and want to get in touch with as many local bands as possible. I wanted to post here to tell a little about the project. There are two sites:  and . FLXcompass lists cool places to go and things to do. FLXradio let's you listen to local bands that have events coming up in the Finger Lakes. As you listen to a band you can see any upcoming shows they have. Local bands can add original songs and their events. As I said, we are still in Beta but both sites work and the native FLXradio apps for Android and iPhone will be out soon. Would love any feedback. And if you know of any local bands, I would love for you to let them know about the app. It will be forever free for local bands to add songs and post events. My name is Ben (21 male) and I am looking to start an indie band here in rochester. I have been playing guitar for 5 years and really like the music scene here in Rochester and would love to become apart of it. Im looking for a percussionist, bassist and preferably lead guitarist. I would love to bring music such as Mac demarco, hers, men i trust and etc into the scene here and would love to find people to play with! I want to consistently play gigs and really try and play out as much as possible. I also have my own music I have been working on and would love to play some original stuff as well. I have hung flyers around the music hot spots in rochester looking for people but ive had a little but of trouble finding people who wont flake out or who are serious about playing! Looking for a drummer for my band. Currently we're a bassist, singer, and 2 guitar players. We're in our 20s and 30s. We're want to start with covers so we can start doing open mic nights and possibly gigs, and then eventually make some originals. We mostly play pump/rock/metal stuff from the 90 and 00, but we're open to a lot of stuff.
