@GrapheneOS Yet another contributor attacked & banned by Daniel Micay
https://tech.michaelaltfield.net/2025/08/19/grapheneos-daniel-micay-banned/
I'm sad (and confused) that #DanielMicay banned me from #GrapheneOS, and I wanted to document this experience for the historical record
@MichaelAltfield @GrapheneOS in an industry (mobile) that thrives on walled gardens and lacks a privacy/freedom preserving alternative this is not a good set of receipts.
@0xF21D @MichaelAltfield @GrapheneOS
It is an open-source project. What privacy/freedom preserving alternative are you talking about?
This person is going around posting this to multiple locations to stir up as much drama and engagement as possible. This isn't in good faith and it they are misleading people about the project and its members.
@skorp_69 @MichaelAltfield @GrapheneOS the mobile industry as a whole makes use of binary blobs at the core of many modern features. Not even Graphene is immune to this.
@0xF21D @skorp_69 @MichaelAltfield GrapheneOS is based on the Android Open Source Project and all of the cross-device code is open source. It doesn't include Google Play. Hardware and firmware is closed source in general, which is nothing that's specific to mobile. Mobile has bigger issues with vendors refusing to open source the userspace components of their drivers such as ARM's Mali driver but that's a device-specific issue and is something any OS supporting the hardware has to deal with.
@0xF21D @skorp_69 @MichaelAltfield The blog post is an attempt to direct harassment towards one of our developers based on fabricated claims about them. It links 2 videos from the 2 main people encouraging harassment towards the person being targeted. Both videos consistent largely of fabrications and misrepresentations. Both are trying to portray an open source dev as being crazy, delusional, etc. to direct harassment towards them. Both try to portray the past harassment as justifying more.
@MichaelAltfield Your claims about this are false, but first we'll address the worst part.
In this post, you've linked two videos with Kiwi Farms style harassment material targeting Daniel Micay. Both consist nearly entirely of fabrications and misrepresentations. Both clearly exist to target Daniel Micay with bullying and harassment including baselessly portraying him as being insane. Louis Rossmann is openly a Kiwi Farms user with a verified account on the site:
@MichaelAltfield You filed a duplicate issue which was closed for a completely valid reason. Much later, you began trying to turn the issue being closed into a public drama including personally targeting the developer who closed the issue. You were repeatedly asked to stop doing this and to simply move on. You made a whole repository about your issue being closed and later deleted as a duplicate where you were repeatedly sending emails to the developer who closed it through mentioning them.
@MichaelAltfield You were blocked on GitHub including from our issue tracker.
Now you're escalating it with a blog post promoting Kiwi Farms harassment material. Henry Fisher is directly responsible for his community engaging in an extreme level of harassment escalating to the point of trying to kill Daniel Micay through swatting attacks. Louis Rossmann publicly supported this harassment and then tried to amplify it with his own fabrications.
Your involvement in this harassment is despicable.
@MichaelAltfield You've never made any contributors to GrapheneOS and it's wrong for your post to describe yourself as a contributor. It's part of how you're misleading people about the overall situation leading up to promoting absolutely vile Kiwi Farms style harassment material.
You made a feature request as a user or potential user and it was rejected with an explanation and why it wasn't wanted. You cannot accept that. You made a whole repository about it and send dozens of messages to us.
@MichaelAltfield You've now taken it to the point that you're participating in ongoing harassment towards the person who closed the issue. That harassment has included repeated swatting attacks aimed at killing the person being targeted. You're directly supporting the bullying and fabrications which were used to encourage people to do this by Henry Fisher and then Louis Rossmann. Both are openly participating in harassment. Rossmann is openly a Kiwi Farms user publicly seeking their friendship.
@MichaelAltfield You're engaging in dishonest character assassination, bullying and harassment towards an open source developer because you disagree with a feature request being rejected and cannot move on from it. The repeated request for you to stop contacting us about it and trying to turn it into a public furor was completely reasonable.
We're fully capable of publishing on our article documenting your involvement in harassment which we can link across social media platforms as you did.
@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @MichaelAltfield@mastodon.social Also it must be added that Rossman was an advocate for Graphene until he secretly made a company with the creator of Calyx, and did not disclose to his followers that he had financial incentive to push a negative narrative about competing security products in favor of the one he had financial investment in.
@kkarhan@infosec.space @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @MichaelAltfield@mastodon.social Removing this until things are clear, don't want to spread any misinfo.
@MichaelAltfield This is informative and unfortunate.
@philip @MichaelAltfield
It's not informative at all, the title itself is already a blatant lie that can easily be confirmed to be a lie. They never contributed to GrapheneOS (you can check this on GitHub), and they never got banned from GrapheneOS (you can't get banned from using this FOSS operating system that doesn't track users with unique identifiers).
