Happened yesterday (26/7). I got woken up with a horrible smell and a loud noise. Fire had already started and i managed to throw the phone on the tile floor pulling it by the cord. The phone was sitting less than 40 cms away from my head on my nightstand. Sheets caught on fire. My ac (a floor unit) had damages on its surface from the fire. My throat hurt the whole day from the fumes i inhaled (My room door was closed because of the ac being on so i basically breathed the smoke for a longer time than i would want trying to stop a fire from spreading). I need help on how to contact support about this through email. I posted on the forums but I'm not sure if there's a better way to do so. Terrible experience all around. I was lucky that the battery side was away from me and not facing towards me.
Here are the photos
Edit: Don't want to be misleading but i was writing this in rage. Might not be in this last month but in the last 2 to 3 months.
Edit 2: To people saying i should have gotten the free batteey replacememt. I'm not in the area of supported walk-in repair shop replacements. I dont even know if they would have me mail the phone in thst case, and how much time thst would take. Also some people said google said that the only way to be sure was to replace the battery. No they didnt. It said it was recommemded to consider getting a battery replacement. They named the update a battery performance update. It clearly wasn' performance related.
They must have realized in rehersals how bad this was going to be and this is probably why the announced the devices an hour early.
I have a one-year Ai Pro subscription from when I bought the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Am I eligible for a new one-year subscription with purchase of a Pixel 10?
The live audience, Tonight Show style just feels so contrived. Jimmy rocking the Pixel Watch...come on. No one believes it. We know Jimmy has an iPhone and probably and Apple Watch.
Just wow. Old school, always did 3 button, never tried gestures until today. Wow.
See above.
Google offering $210 on one section of the website, and $500 on another section.
Anyone else seeing this?
Just got an email 30 minutes ago.
My order:
Pixel 10 256gb - $899
-
$300 trade in
-
$150 promo code
-
$100 Google store credit
Total = $349
“Despite praise from professional gadget reviewers and happy Pixel owners — including me — about 96 percent of American phone buyers pick something other than a Pixel.”
Just been looking at the tech specs and noticed (as per the rumors)...
"Dual eSIM (two active eSIMs; stores 8 or more eSIMs)"
So assuming no physical SIM.
Went to best buy for something unrelated, and stopped by the pixel display to mess with the 9s. The sub won't let me post the photo but the image was - save up to 760 on new pixel 10 series with trade in, and up to a 350$ gift card*.
Not too bad, Im a best buy tech member too so insurance is wrapped up in there. Strongly debating on going from my 8 pro to a 10 fold.
Thought it let people know early.

Fixed my mistype.

a cabin suitcase, A CABIN SUITCASE! that they claim are worth 400bucks.. in what nuthouse did people sit around and think " oh what should we include with this expensive phone, a watch, earphones? nah lets do a cabin suitcase.. what a sham!
i cannot think of a good reason to upgrade to this anymore, this just added a good reason not to.
Google had listed a "special offer" via email, limited to the first people that signed up. Has anyone received that email yet? Any news on what it is? Maybe its coming in 30 min when the event actually goes live
Go watch it if you want to see the Pixel 10 releasing! Here's the video!
I've got an iPhone 16 that is financed through T-Mobile for another year. I would like to get the Pixel 10 Pro unlocked through the Google Store and would like to know if the iPhone 16 could be used as a trade in even though it has another year of financing? Has anyone traded in a financed phone to the Google store before and how did it go? Thanks.
Random WiFi disconnects causing delayed/missed notifications, heating after long calls, faster battery drainage after video calls - aren't issues that one should be facing in 2025, especially after paying flagship money. Please fix it!
Current: Pixel 9 Pro
FYI, the free year is tied to the account that buys the phone on Google Store. Last year, it was a code to activate on any account, not this time.
As the Pixel 10 pro release is very soon, there are a bunch of benchmarks and oh how this phone is terrible since the benchmarks are low. In the real world, this doesn't matter at all unless you are constantly playing games and a proper power user.
What matters more is how smooth the software is, screen, camera etc
If all you do is browse the internet, make calls, whatsapp, IG, Netflix etc, then all new pixel releases will be super snappy.
Can the Pixelsnap Ring be applied to a phone and I still use wireless charging, specifically the Pixelsnap Charger w/ Stand?
Also, this is all assuming both of these items are compatible with a P9PXL?
Switched from the S24 Ultra to the Pixel 9 Pro XL recently, and honestly... I was wrong about the Pixel's chipset.
I'd been told (and believed) that the Tensor chip was way behind Snapdragon. Specs-wise, yeah, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the S24U looks better on paper. That's part of why I went with it originally and used samsung exclusively for a year. But now that I've used both, I'm starting to realize how overrated the whole "chipset war" is.
Despite having "inferior" hardware, the Pixel feels just as fast - in some ways smoother. The animations are cleaner, multitasking feels more natural, and battery life has actually been better for me. I haven't had any real heating issues either. I think Google just really knows how to tune their software to their hardware
Meanwhile, the S24U was a powerhouse, no doubt, but I still ran into random Ul stutters, and Samsung's software just didn't feel quite as fluid or consistent.
IMO raw chip performance doesn't matter if the software doesn't take advantage of it. Optimization matters way more than most people realize.
Shoutout to the people on Samsung subreddit who told me pixels would be slow and sluggish
Do pre-order promotions generally last until the day before the phone is available (the 28th)?
If the Google Store credit expires exactly a year from today, it would suck if the 11 is released on August 25, for example.
Currently using the 6a and opted for the 150$ or 12900 INR store cred in the form of a Coupon Code. Now with the launch of Pixel 10 I am getting around 60$ or 5000 INR promotional code for the New Launch. I read that only one code can be used at a time and that's my query as the store cred isn't a promotional code.So can I cash in both the codes and get a better deal out of it
Are "Pixelsnap" and "MagSafe" just branded/marketing terms using the qi2 spec, or are they enhancements on the spec itself?
If I get a qi2 magnetic case (originally for a Pixel 9), and a qi2 magnetic phone mount, for example, is that all going to be compatible with the Pixel 10's "Pixelsnap"?
My understanding is that it works pretty much like Apple Care?
and just like Apple care, if your device bricks, they will send you a replacement (like Apple Care, might be a refurb or new)?
I'm located in the US! Happy hunting y'all. ✌🏽
Sure AI everything whatever, but for us who don't give a fuck about it, at least bring some new old real camera features?
Goddamit this is so annoying. I miss when Marc Levoy was calling the shots. HDR+ was a truly revolutionary feature when all the other brands were just doing marketing BS, now it's the opposite.
I'm in Canada and after purchase support is really important for me. Assuming that you have all of these in reasonable distance (except google which redirects to my local MobiLink repair centers), which one should i choose to get the best and most convenient service when I need it.
Some of Google's spec discrimination is annoying.
Only 10 Pro XL is getting 25w wireless charging
Also only 512gb and 1TB getting UFS....
I think this might be new and getting announced today.

'With the Pixel 10, Google is introducing a new Journal app that lets you quickly jot down what’s happening in your life. There are also updates to Pixel Recorder, Screenshots, and Studio.'
3rd EDIT - And here -
Google forced an update recently. Which I had no choice to reject. You have to update it. Now after update my wifi keeps disconnecting all the time. It connects for a few minutes after switching on. Then can't find any wifi networks.. though wifi is on. The bluetooth keeps disconnecting. The apps aren't opening properly not even Google pay. What the hell was that #google.
If you are getting a Google One store credit (in addition to the $200 promotional credit) that credit will be added to your account 30 days after shipment and will expire 365 days after issue - per the fine print on the checkout page.
So if you want to increase the chance that you will be able to use that credit for next year's Pixel - then the later you buy and the later your phone ships the better.
I'm running Android 16, and think I have been for a while now. I allowed an update to the phone today, and I'm on Build BP2A:250805.005 if that matters.
Since the update, in the upper left of the home screen, below the time and notifications, and above the icons, in the space where any calendar reminders would go, since today's update, that spot has been filled with irrelevant (as in far enough into the future that they don't matter now) reminders, and dots under them, allowing me to scroll through the reminders.
Most of my reminders are set to pop up 10 minutes before. The ones I'm seeing are weeks away to months away. How do I fix it to how it had been and is supposed to be, so that only imminent reminders show up?
If I could post a picture I would, but I hope the description above makes sense.
This isn't a scare post but something gamers should be concerned about regarding the latest model of our favorite phone. The Tensor G5 is switching away from a Mali GPU to one engineered by PowerVR. This may limit compatibility with advanced games. Genshin Impact in particular has stated their minimum requirements completely exclude PowerVR GPUs. Godot Engine also has serious compatibility issues with them. You can ask your favorite AI or search engine for a list of further known incompatibilities, but it's not a good sign for gamers that Google is switching to known problematic hardware.
For those of you with Pixel 9 Pros who activated the 1 year free Gemini Pro benefit, that puts you in the 2TB tier, do you see the 10% Google Store cashback benefit as available? On my end I'm not seeing 10% cashback.
On both my account and my partner's account (we activated our Gemini benefits 3 months apart), the 10% cashback is NOT available today. Instead, .
I've read conflicting reports. Some users claim they are on the 1 year AI plan courtesy of a Pixel 9 Pro purchase and still get 10% cashback, but there are others like myself who seem to not show this at all. What's the verdict?
Ways to check if you have 10% back benefit:
-
Go to and click on Benefits. Look at "Your Benefits" and "Upcoming Benefits." In my case the 10% back from Google Store shows up as an upcoming benefit.
-
Try buying a device and at the payment page you should see a Google One 10% benefit in the total pricing.
So with preorders coming up for the Pixel 10/Pro in less than 2 days, I think it would be a great time to discuss how to buy the phone as cheap as possible from the google store. The promotions that will be available at the time of preorder are as follows:
Boosted Trade in values for devices (get rid of those old devices)
ID.me 10% off your cart on checkout (can be found under "offers" on the google store website. Available for students, government workers, military, nurses, etc.) *U.S. Only
10% back from Google Store purchases in the form of google store credit for Google One members (keep in mind this only works for paid members, if you are on a trial, this benefit does not apply to you. I believe if you upgrade to the next plan up for 1 month it will active the benefit, so its worth it if the store credit you receive is more than the cost of the month) *As a user brought up, this benefit is only available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia.
Take advantage of any Google Store credit you may have in your account
*If you have a chase card, freedom unlimited/sapphire, you can buy your phone via the shop through chase portal and earn 2/1 points on your google store purchase
Any combination of these promotions will help to significantly reduce the price of the phone and you may even get it for free depending on your trade in device and saved store credit.
If there are any I missed let me know in the comments and I can update this post! Happy purchasing...
Does anyone have any information or experience for when the new Pixels may be available for purchase in Google's retail stores? Or have other retailers historically stocked the phones earlier?
I'm traveling internationally next week (leaving Thurs 28th) and would like to upgrade from my P7. I'm worried that if I order online, I won't receive the phone on time. I figure the Google stores themselves must be the first to stock the phones, and I live close enough to NYC.
Hey,
I was wondering if P9P owners who got the 12 month trial last year are still elgible for the new AI subscription promo when buying a P10P?
Do I need to cancel the current plan, that renews as a paid sub in sept, before ordering? or will it just recognize and start the trial over?
thanks in advance
Google should add support for Miracast to the Pixel line. Casting is pretty basic functionality with a strong social component, and it's low-key embarrassing when you want to share your photos to an older LG/Samsung/Sony TV but you're stuck seeing 'No available devices found' (despite being on the right wifi) whilst friends who have Galaxy or iPhones can cast seamlessly.
Lots of older devices do not have Google Cast and only support Miracast and/or Airplay. Adding support would allow us to cast to thousands of additional devices without having to replace our TVs or purchase additional equipment, and all it would take is a simple software update.
Really looks bad for the Pixel line when you can't cast to a device that other phones can easily cast to; it turned a Galaxy-wielding friend away from considering a Pixel for his next device when this happened to me recently. That 'word of mouth' environment is crazy important.
Take some time today to send some feedback to Google about this by going to Settings > About Phone > 'Send Feedback about this device'.
Edit: I am referring only to the physical Chromecast devices, not Google Cast generally.
Edit 2: A few people are missing my core argument and getting hung up on the Chromecast/Google Cast thing. Reformatted argument to focus on simply adding Miracast support in addition to Google Cast. Original post copied below.
Original post: Now that Chromecast is officially discontinued, Google REALLY needs to add Miracast support to the Pixel line. Casting is pretty basic functionality with a strong social component, and it's low-key embarrassing when you want to share your photos to a LG/Samsung/Sony TV but you're stuck seeing 'No available devices found' (despite being on the right wifi) whilst friends who have Galaxy or iPhones can cast seamlessly. Really looks bad for the Pixel line when you can't cast; it turned a Galaxy-wielding friend away from considering a Pixel for his next device when this happened to me recently. That 'word of mouth' environment is crazy important for growing the line.
Miracast has become the de facto standard for casting from non-Apple devices, and now that Chromecast is dead it's high time for Google to jump on board.
Take some time today to send some feedback to Google about this by going to Settings > About Phone > 'Send Feedback about this device'.
Someone told me to wait till pixel 10 launch for price drop. What should I do now. Will they get back that offer any soon how long will I have to wait?
So, I guess no real miracle with the new Pixel 10 CPU. I really loved my pixel 7 pro XL, but filming things in summer or hot weather was awful, which was because of the poor CPU performance, always getting hot and going into throttle mode. While 8 pro XL and 9 pro XL improved in terms of temperatures and battery life, these iterations of tensor were severly lacking any real progress and were several years behind their competitors. Does the latest tensor have a vapor chamber, how bad is it's throttling expected? And what do you think of its performance outside gaming on a smartphone?
I'm one of those people that leaves emails and notifications unread until I'm ready to deal with it. So I hate when I accidentally click a notification before I've accomplished or thought about whatever it is. Being able to return a notification to unread status would be absolutely lifechanging for me.
Now that official details are up, it's officially confirmed that Google has eliminated the SIM card slot from the US model specifically (still there in Canada, EU, and the rest of the world). This unfortunately means for the first time in many years I will not be buying a new Pixel phone on day 1, as I use an international SIM for a carrier/country that does not support eSIM.
Does anyone have experience with this? I attempted to preorder from Google Canada (despite much worse trade-in value), but the checkout is stopped at selecting a province. I'd love to find an international retailer that will ship to the US without a huge markup, even if it means I have to just sell my old Pixel elsewhere later.
Edit: The Pro Fold appears to have a SIM slot, but I'm not interested in the Fold. The smaller footprint on the non-XL pro model is where it's at ;)
So just out of curiosity what are the trade in offers y'all are getting and for what model/storage size ? I have a Pixel 8 pro 1tb and I'm only getting offered $500... Through Google directly. Best Buy doesn't have the 1tb model fmfor purchase nor for me to trade in even if I decided to go with slower storage option.
I got 699 for my 8 pro last year. This year my 9 pro is only worth 550. It was even less yesterday before the inflated trade ins started today. Bestbuy is only saying 275. Not good. Is 550 still worth it? Hand on to the credit and then next year is only 150. So maybe still worth it.
Hi all, i have a pixel 9a since the first week of release. Its been a brilliant phone but lately its been getting worse.
For example the battery life has dropped significantly, i get about 3 hours of use now, compared to over 10 before. (Constant use)
Theres alot of stuttering on games, but the most annoying thing is the device rotation. I turn it on and it doesnt rotate my screen, and i turn it off and it will be stuck on a rotation.
I haven't contacted them yet as im currently traveling. But ive been told customer support is a pain
I have a 9Pro XL(Fi), purchased from the Google Store and brought to Google Fi. Any reason that I can't see the automatic $450 discount for existing Google Fi users on the Pixel 10 Pro XL? Anyone else experiencing this?

I don't know why they released Gemini as an Assistant in such a half baked form, and it's baffling that it's continued so long. Is there no dogfooding going on at Google? You can't even play music anymore, which is something that used to be possible. Inconsistent and unreliable, but possible.
Today when I said "Hey Google, Play [Song] by [Artist]" it inexplicably started reciting the lyrics in its own TTS voice, with repeat attempts being met with refusals that as a large language model, it can't play music. Here's a link to the song on Apple Music though. If you click it, it'll open in the app for you.
If I change the assistant back to the original, 100% of the time, if I say "play" it just opens Apple Music and queues the song up. But I can't even just leave it at that, because Google seemingly doesn't allow you to use Gemini at all if you don't have it set as the default assistant. Absolute nonsense when it's so seriously limited.
I was really excited about the Pixel 10, especially the Pro variant, but I’ll be skipping the upgrade this year—or maybe even switching to another flagship. There’s no real camera upgrade, no video improvements, just a bunch of AI tools that are already available online for free. And “Pro Res”? I can just use any free AI upscaler to get the same effect. Spending $1200 on this doesn’t feel worth it. Honestly, I’m disappointed—as a long-time hardcore Pixel fan.
Interesting choice...
Maybe bigger news than we all expected?
Anyone have any insider knowledge on what the incentives might be in the UK?
I’ve been bouncing between waiting for the pixel 10, nothing phone 3 (I like the customisation), and the S25 Ultra for the S Pen. I’ve been so indecisive that pixel 10 release day is here 😂
Anyway to the point of my post… there’s been no incentives on buying the S25 Ultra, until today! If bought between today and some point in the future you receive a free Samsung Chromebook. Samsungs way or trying to swing a few people to the S25 series rather than Pixel 10 I think.
I just thought it was funny
The last year I had switched to an iPhone after my pixel 5A became DOA. I switched back to Android with my new pixel 9A a little over a week ago. Before doing so, I signed out of iMessage and FaceTime on the iPhone. Put the sim in the pixel 9A and everything has been working fine. But not so fast. More than once I have missed a phone call from an iPhone user and it has gone to voicemail for the person. They leave me a voicemail and then when I listen to it, it's a voicemail from somebody else with a completely different phone number from over a year ago. So it's a voicemail that was somehow archived in my Google voice voicemails I think. And the voicemail of the person just left is nowhere to be found. Is there any way to figure out what is happening here? And is this something with Google or visible? I don't quite know what to do. Has anyone ever encountered this? It does seem that it's only happening with voicemails from iPhone users. Any help is appreciated.
Is the worldwide version of the Pixel 10 expected to be the same other than mmWave 5G as the US version?
I want to retain the SIM card slot, and I'm willing to pay for it.
Are there any other issues?
EDIT: Seems like Canada gets the worldwide version and retains the SIM card slot, would probably be easiest to get here.
Please bring back the back fingerprint reader. The Pixel 5 was the best phone to date. My son now runs it, and I have a Pixel 8 and it's a great phon,e but the finger reader sucks and weighs a lot more than the 5 did.
So if we had the 9 Pro and recently activated our 12 month free Google AI Pro plan through the One app, and then upgrade to the 10 Pro/XL and get the offer (this time it shows up on the checkout screen, like you have to check to receive the trial offer like you would if you wanted the Pixel Care plan or something) then will it stack onto the remainder of our time already on AI Pro from the 9?
With the 9 you didn't have to add it to the cart like this for the record. If you bought one new a year ago, any time up through mid-November if you open the One app it prompts you to redeem the free offer. Not sure if this would be different with the 10 considering now it's somehow showing during the checkout process (and yes I see the offer while checking out even though my Google account already has AI Pro now via the 9s promo).
Thanks for any help!
I have had a magsafe clear case from Ringke since I got the phone. Its gotten yellow and I want to upgrade, but I can't find anything that isn't clear or black. Why are there no Hazel cases? The best I can find is a beige from Gorilla.
Two questions:
-
I did find one I thought was nice with an aluminum frame - but it is just magnetic - not magsafe - does it matter that it doesn't have the full magsafe ring and perpendicular tab.
-
Why are the choices so limited? Bare, Mous all make options but they are mostly black.
Mannnnnnn
I am in Australia and the new pixel cannot come quick enough tomorrow. I have the affected 6a and whilst yes I received full compensation, I am charging it 4 times a day and it has become a massive pain in the ass for my work, but I have held back hoping to either get a 10 or get a 9 at a discounted price.
Common and release this dam phone!
I assume there wont be pixel 10s to buy from tomorrow, do stores have them and they are embargoed?
Is there a pedometer app (step counter) that works on your Pixel 9+? Ever since I got Pixel 9 pro xl, my pedometer app randomly stops registering steps. For weeks at a time. I already found the system setting that turns off apps when they are not frequently used, but it didn't help.
The prior version was great. The new version is difficult to navigate and borderline unusable in a lot of areas. I hate it. It used to be my go-to and now I've begun trying out other photo editors.
Offering it in two non neutral colors only??? Are you freaking kidding me. I loved the P9PF and if it had qi2 built in I would’ve kept it but it doesn’t and I hate cases so I went back to my iPhone to continue waiting for the P10PF.
Not it’s here with qi2 but only in two hideous colors. Why Google. Why.
My phone randomly, frequently, vibrates, for no discernible reason. Sometimes multiple times a minute, sometimes with a few minute breaks in between. It essentially undoes the value of having quiet notifications.
I have a Pixel 9 Pro.
Thanks!
Idk if this is related , but to add insult to injury, my phone has stopped vibrating at the end of a countdown timer, even though I very clearly have it set to do so
Probably going to buy 10 Pro today.
I've tried everything, I've turned everything thing off, I've turned everything on, I've updated it, it's stuck on LTE. I'm on Airtel network in India. Anyone else with the same issue?
Still mad about the 4a update but impressed it's alive. I found it together with my pizza...
I'm just baffled by how terrible they are. I use Telegram, Signal and Whatsapp to talk to different people but the top row suggestions are rarely people I talk to the most or the apps I use. I don't use Messages at all, but it's often there. For some reason WhatsApp's "my status" is always there although I've never ever used that. I know I can pin certain apps, which I do, but it doesn't resolve the problem. I thought all this AI push would solve it, but I don't think my phone is any smarter.
I have a Oneplus 13 I'm looking to dump since it has lagged behind on updates. Does the google store usually take Oneplus phones on trade ins with decent values or is the trade in on them during the preorder period usually trash?
The new Google Photos editor is much less functional than the previous minimal design. I used to be able to do rapid edits to photos with almost every option on one sliding panel with the ability to quickly toggle changes on and off with the tap of a button.
Things wrong with the new design:
-
Crop corners should not be displayed the entire time. Why is there also a separate Crop button?
-
The display image is smaller. Overall the entire view is far too cluttered.
-
Pop and Sharpen shouldn't be actions that are applied, they should be sliders like before.
-
Tapping in and out of any slider is way too much of a UI change. You should not even have to go in and out of sliders to get between them all.
-
If you adjust a slider, the button doesn't stay highlighted to let you know it was adjusted.
-
There's no way to quickly toggle a slider on and off like tapping the highlighted buttons did previously.
-
The sliders don't slightly lock in the 0 reset position. So if you're sliding right and left it's difficult to tell where 0 is without looking.
-
The sliders seem too wide. It almost takes two swipes to drag a slider fully one way.
-
If I put the Shadow slider to 100 then X out of the slider, the display image still stays at 100 Shadow value until I tap into another slider.
-
Overall the UI feels much less responsive.
I've never really wanted to revert an app update before, but this is one update I wish I could undo. The previous minimal photo editor was almost perfect for years. I've edited thousands of photos with it. The UI did not need to change this much since there were almost no new functions added, just moved around to reduce ease of use.
The new Google Photos editor is actually unusable now. Please revert.
My Pixel 7 Pro is almost completely gone after a trip to Cinque Terre in Liguria (Italy).
The screen has partially lifted and it only works when plugged into the charger.
Right before my trip I had finally fixed an issue where the USB-C connector wouldn’t plug in properly.
Photo shot with a Mi 9T Pro. Also had to quickly switch carriers because my main SIM was an eSIM.
Picked the perfect time to grab the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Edit: URL
Hello, I've just set up Google Routine on my Pixel 6. It's supposed to play a specific artist at 9 AM and 9:30 PM on Spotify. My Spotify premium is linked to the Google Home app, but no music plays. It says it's going to play, and then nothing happens. Do I need a smart speaker? I was expecting it to just play on my phone.
Google Assistant (Gemini) has no problem playing artists that I ask it to. I thought it might be my Do Not Disturb settings, but it clearly says that media can be played.
Anyone buy pixel insurance thru Best Buy? The fine print says their coverage doesn't kick in until after manufacturer warranty (1 year). So does that mean I can't repair my screen until after 1 year? Thanks
It has been 2 months now that I have been using the Google pixel 9 and I'm here to share my experience.
Just to note I am a Medical student and am not a heavy user I use my phone only for my day to day tasks and education.
I previously was using the Pixel 6a. Honestly it was a great phone other than the time to time overheating that sort of annoyed me. I decided to upgrade to the Pixel 9 after watching tons of review videos and vlogs on it.
Some of the key things that I have noticed improvement in were:
-
Battery lasting
-
Refresh rate
-
Display brightness
Now here are my key takeaways,
Software-wise experience in both phones are practically the same despite Google marketing this phone with heavy AI improvements and better overall experience. Only thing I have experienced are stronger haptics.
I still now and then struggle with the fingerprint reader even though Google had advertised that they had improved the speed of the reader.
Some of the new features like the Add-me in the camera app dosen't always work out smoothly as expected. I've experimented with it several times and I've noticed that It sometimes give out a weird Blue tint on to the person that was added to the photo. Other times it dosen't even add the 2nd person.
I'm happy that they have added Mag safe for wireless charging to the phone. Although realistically I still use Wired charging as its way faster.
What I observed about this phone is that it's heavy. It's understandable considering the bigger battery. Although coming from the Pixel 6a which was really slim and light this was quite the jump for me.
Design-wise, the only unique thing I enjoyed was the island like camera visor. Everything else from the front glass to the flat rails were like a iphone to me. I literally put this phone side by side with my brothers iphone 15 and I couldn't find any difference other than the camera layout.
The screenshots app is actually one of the best things Google has created. I used it very often and it helps me alot with managing my screenshots.
Now my advices for Google,
Before the Pixel 6a, I was an iphone user. The only reason I left apple ecosystem to come to google's line was because of their software experience and its very useful features. I don't mind the whole idea that they try to copy Apples way of designing their phones like a "slab", all that matters to me is the software experience.
I am aware most users complain about hardware like "chip performance"and stuff. For an average user like myself its not highly essential, I just need to get my tasks done. Simple things like unlocking your phone, fluidity across apps have to be smooth. If you can't even work on that there's no point campaigning for AI related improvements.
If Google markets or advertises a feature or something they have to make sure that it runs 99% smoothly in their beta stage before campaigning it to their broader audience.
Google has to work on their gallery app. That thing is no different from my laptop file storage system. The Google Photos have much better organization of their videos/photos as compared to the Gallery app.
Google has to work on Connectivity/Network compatibility issues. Both my previous and current pixel have connectivity problems with my home wifi. I get 3 bars on my pixel while others with their other phones get full bars. I've tested it with public networks and the same thing has happened.
These are my thoughts and advices, I'm not discrediting Google's up-to-date work from where they started. That definitely is a huge improvement. I hope atleast some of the issues I've mentioned gets sorted with the Pixel 10 or any of the upcoming android updates.
But yeah overall Pixel 9 does the job for me.
Thanks for reading this Team Pixel.
Shouldn't they just call it the Pixel 10 Fold and drop the Pro element. The Pro element on their series depicts that it has better cameras than the base phone, the Folding device certainly doesn't have Pro cameras.
In recent months, Google has been very active with telecommunications regulatory institutions in Mexico regarding its Pixel brand.
Last month, Google just register their "Google Pixel" brand in the The Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and the Pixel 9A already show the Mexican logos for the Official Mexican Standard (NOM) and The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) in the labels.
Also theres been some leaks in popular stores in Mexico like Liverpool and Coppel with the official SKU of the Google Pixel 9A.
Literally 10 minutes ago it was $599 and it just spiked back up to 927. I'm so frustrated right now. I was so close to adding it to my cart. It MUST have been an error, right? God damnit.
We all know about how software features are only sometimes released for US or a select few regions first, if ever. I've now noticed a hardware difference in the Pixel 10 based on region.
I was trying to understand what the zoned UFS feature was as I saw it was available on only the 1TB P10XL here in the UK. So I googled around and found the hardware support specs page on Google Support. It seems that it's available on 512GB models in the US, but for the rest of the world it's only on 1TB. What makes that worse is that the only 1TB model available here is black, and I want a Moonstone one. So whilst I'm happy with 512GB (up from my 256GB P9PXL) I can't get the same storage specification as in the US.
So worse prices, worse features and now worse hardware specs in the RoW compared to the US. Google sure does hate it's non-US customers.
I just got an email for this (subscribed to Google Store):
Pixel 9 Pro has been named ‘Smartphone of the Year’ at the 2025 Global Mobile Awards. This award is a huge testament to the Pixel team’s dedication to innovation in hardware, software, and AI.
What do you think of this? (Especially if you have used the phone for a while.)
I'm strongly considering getting the Pixel 9 Pro (partially because of its not-too-big size), but I'm aware that the Pixel 10 is coming out August 20th.
I bought one that wasn't Qi2 certified and it said it was charging but still drained the battery. So what is one that you all know works with your Pixels.
TL;DR: Traded in my Pixel 8a for €329 credit. Google first claimed the device wasn’t reset. Then they admitted it was properly reset in writing, and because of that recommended I try the trade-in again— but still rejected it the 2nd time.
I traded in my Pixel 8a for €329 credit when buying a Pixel 9a.
At first, Google (via PCS, their European trade-in partner) claimed the phone wasn’t reset. After I pushed back, they admitted in writing that it had been properly reset and even suggested I try the whole trade-in again.
I did. The result? Another rejection — this time with a new reason: the activation lock was supposedly still active, something they had never mentioned before.
I followed all of Google’s instructions exactly. Now I get the 8a back, no money, and I’ve wasted hours dealing with support, escalations, and scripted copy-paste replies.
This is my fourth Pixel trade-in, and the first time anything like this has happened. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially since I did everything right and even Google’s own support confirmed the reset was successful.
If you’re considering a trade-in, be warned. Google can change the story after the fact and leave you with nothing — no credit, no help, no accountability.
I am going to German customer protection agencies. This is obscene and it shouldn't be allowed to happen.
It would not bother me if I had to, I just want to avoid a whole lot of time-consuming syncing if I'm going to immediately wipe the phone.
We have a Google pixel 5. No laughing, we're old, pushing 80. Anyway my husband's phone started sounding an alarm that something was wrong with his phone and click here to download breeze cleaner to fix it. Well, were not clicking on it. It's a full screen blaring alarm and won't stop and there is no way to close it (no x to close). You can't even get to your settings before it takes over the screen again. We put it in safe mode and deleted the app (which was never on there before so I'm guessing he pushed something) and it still won't stop. I've cleared the cache on all his apps to see if that helped, but nope. Brought it to the fix it store and they said to do a factory reset because they can't figure out how to get it to stop. Any options before people pushing the limits of age reset to factory settings? Thanks in advance.
