A new shoe store is about to open in a long-empty space near Crabtree Valley Mall.
The store, The Athlete’s Foot, will sell men’s, women’s and children’s sneakers from top brands including Nike, Adidas, Puma, New Balance and Asics.
It’s expected to open Tuesday, Aug. 19, operations manager Alaa Dahir told The News & Observer.
This location, at 4800 Glenwood Ave., is one of several across North Carolina owned by Dahir Footwear. The company is also behind The Athlete’s Foot stores at Capital Marketplace in Raleigh, Garner Station, The Streets at Southpoint and Parkway Plaza in Durham, among others.
Formerly home to Fidelity, the Glenwood Avenue store is one of Dahir Footwear’s largest The Athlete’s Foot stores, Dahir said. In addition to a retail space, where shoppers can browse retro Jordans and the latest AirMaxes, the store has a separate area for the community — perhaps to be used as seminar or classroom space.
“We love being involved with our community,” Dahir said. “We like being a neighborhood location that people can come in and out of. They’re coming to us because they know we’re going to take care of them when they get here.”
Warby Parker opening at Village District
The Raleigh shopping center formerly known as Cameron Village made headlines recently, after Anthropologie announced it would open its first-ever Maeve brick-and-mortar there.
But a popular eyewear store, Warby Parker, is also coming to Village District. Its newest location will be in the former C.T. Weekends space at 437 Daniels St.
Expected to open this winter, the store will join Triangle locations at Fenton, North Hills and The Streets at Southpoint.
New retailer at Fearrington Village
A men’s clothing store opens this week at The Shops at Fearrington at Fearrington Village.
Thistle & Oak will offer apparel, accessories and gifts from brands such as Clifton Wilson, Edward Armah, Hagen, Will Leather Goods and Molton Brown.
A sister store to the women’s boutique Dovecote Style, Thistle & Oak will join the Belted Goat, Nest Home & Gifts, Galloway’s Wine Shop, Sprout Kids and McIntyre’s Books among the tenants at The Shops at Fearrington.
Thistle & Oak will open Friday, Aug. 22 at 2000 Fearrington Village Center. Its regular opening hours will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.
Fearrington Village is also known for the Fearrington House Inn and Restaurant and the Belted Galloway cows on the property.
