A foreigner stopped a Japanese train 🚇, potentially endangering commuters and disrupting service. This shows a lack of respect for safety and culture 😥.

This video is him pretending to stop the train. It was stopping on its own and he just grabbed it pretending he has super strength. No one was endangered besides himself,

No, in this case, fortunately it didn’t affect the train’s movement, but as always, touching a train can trigger an emergency stop. This behavior is not acceptable.

Fine them heavily, deport, and bar from re-entry. People visiting Japan, or any other foreign country should at a minimum: be able to speak the language and read it on a basic level, have knowledge of the culture they are entering, and be respectful. If the first two are not possible, then hire a guide and interpreter so that you are not a hindrance to the local population. Admittedly, I'm probably too harsh in my view, and I think Japan is too tolerant. The right path likely lays between:)

It looks to me like he's pretending to stop it, as a game with his daughter. In America the train would never be aware of the contact, and the driver wouldn't alter speed. Like, if you post up outside a supermarket with automatic doors, you'll see someone every 5 minutes do the "force hand" and pretend to open it with telekinesis. We're just that way.

I have seen Japanese students being severely scolded by train conductors just for touching a train that was about to stop. Foreign tourists cannot get away with saying, “I didn’t know it was wrong.” It is not only dangerous, but if the train is delayed, they may also face compensation claims.

Japan needs to limit immigration and tourism severely

I'm embarrassed to see this! I, as a tourist, also made a mistake when I first visited Japan in 2005! I didn't know what those yellow and white lines meant there, but it's a chance to watch how the Japanese behave and then act accordingly! I asked for advice at the hotel just in case and they kindly explained!

As posts have mentioned below he was pretending to stop the train. Sure, I get it, a Dad trying to make a video with his daughter. He didn't think that teaching his daughter to touch a moving train was bad and that it might cause the service to delay. He didn't think that they were the first ones on, when there were others who had patiently waited their turn in line. Gaijin who don't abide by the rules in Japan can fuck off.

At some point, the Japanese are simply going to stop all tourism and I won't blame them one bit

Stupid tourists think they’re so funny disrespecting local manners. And teaching their child it’s ok to do whatever the F you want in another country as long as you think it’s funny
