Apple’s new design system, unveiled at WWDC 2025, is a visual masterpiece. But its beauty might come at a cost.

Apple just dropped a bombshell on the design world.

At its highly anticipated WWDC 2025 keynote, the company unveiled “Liquid Glass,” a complete design system overhaul for iOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and all its other platforms.

Drawing heavy inspiration from the futuristic aesthetic of visionOS, Apple is leaving the era of flat design behind and embracing a world of translucency, depth, and fluid motion.

The demos are, in a word, stunning.

Windows have a frosted glass effect, hinting at the content behind them. Animations flow with a new physical realism.

Light seems to interact with UI elements, creating a sense of tactility and place.

It’s a bold, unified vision that feels like the next logical step in user interface design.

But as the initial awe subsides, a more critical conversation is emerging.
