To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the start of commercial operation of JR Central's express train, the 383 series, we will be releasing a second series of original goods, following on from the first series which was well received.
The 383 series is mainly used on the Shinano express trains that run from Nagoya to Nagano, and is a vehicle that combines speed with comfortable running on the Chuo-Nishi Line, which has many sharp curves and gradients.
This time, we have prepared two items: a "mini head mark" based on the actual head mark, and a "sound acrylic stand" that lets you enjoy the distinctive sound of the 383 series. You can enjoy seeing and listening to the charm of the 383 series up close.

This sound acrylic stand recreates the scene of the Shinano express train (outbound) passing through Jokoji Station. Based on the motif of a scene passing through at high speed, the design evokes the feeling of speed as the pendulum carriage tilts and curves.
The background features the topography and lush greenery of the area around Jokoji Station. Although it is a suburban station in the Chukyo region, the location allows you to feel the natural beauty of the Chuo West Line.
In terms of sound, the recording includes the "(commonly known as) Wide View Chime" that is essential to JR Central's limited express trains, as well as the brake release sound unique to the 383 series and the VVVF inverter sound of the GTO thyristor. All of these were edited from sound sources recorded on actual trains, and were planned to create a realistic sound experience.
383This is a special item that we would like to offer to all of you who love the Chuo-Nishi Line.

383The series is a controlled natural pendulum DC express train developed and introduced to increase the speed and improve service of the Shinano limited express train on the Chuo-Nishi Line, which runs from Nagoya to Nagano. Pendulum control technology and a self-steering mechanism enable it to achieve both speed and a comfortable ride when passing through curves.
In addition to the Shinano express train, it was also used for the Home Liner during rush hour, and the previously operated Chikuma and Central Liner express trains, making it suitable for a wide range of operations.
The trains are flexible with 2 , 4 or 6 cars, and there are two types of leading cars: non-through and through.
Its design, incorporating the latest technology and excellent design, was highly praised, winning the Good Design Award in 1995 and the Laurel Award in 1996. Even now, 30 years after its debut, it continues to play an active role as a mainstay of regional transportation.

　　

The 383 series trains running through the scenery of the Central West Line are a memorable part of travels for not only railway enthusiasts, but many other customers. I myself still vividly remember the pleasant time I spent riding the Shinano express train, swaying along while admiring the Central Alps after speeding through urban areas. I'm sure many people were captivated by the sight of the trains leaning over as they smoothly sprinted around curves.
The mini headmark was designed with the strong desire to look back at the various ways in which the 383 series has been used up to now and to fully convey its history and charm. We hope that you will be able to fully experience the charm of the 383 series through the mini-sized headmark, along with the impressions and memories of each era.
The sound acrylic stand contains two types of sounds. First, we decided to use the "(commonly known as) Wide View Chime" because we believe it is an essential sound for JR Central's limited express trains. Furthermore, after carefully considering "What are the distinctive sounds of the 383 Series?", we decided to use the "brake release sound" and the " GTO-VVVF inverter sound," which were recorded on the actual train and edited for recording. Furthermore, to express the appearance of the 383 Series turning a curve using its pendulum mechanism, we used the scenery of Jokoji Station, located near Nagoya but known for its scenic beauty and proximity to the Aigi Tunnels, for the design.
It is our sincere hope that through this product, the stories and emotions that the 383 series has woven will continue to resonate in your hearts for a long time to come.
