Digitalization of Berth Planning: A terminals view on creating efficiency In the current state of the shipping industry, schedule volatility and heavy congestion is becoming commonplace. Container terminals around the world constantly have to plan and replan their berthing lineup, and the associated resources. However, most terminals are today working in excel sheets, legacy tools, and even on pen and paper to manage their most expensive resources like QC cranes and labor gangs. Portchain is a Copenhagen-based AI company working with leading container terminals across the world. Portchain’s Berth Optimization Engine (BOE) helps terminals continuously optimize their berth plan to reduce cost and increase capacity utilization Portchain enables terminals to assess change requests earlier and level up their customer service. The BOE offers superior control over KPIs such as lowering the plan cost per shift, increasing vessel rate attainment, improving the gang utilization and opening new capacity. At the same time, it improves the life of the berth planner by automating data entry and data sharing. In this webinar, learn how two of Portchain’s customers effectively implemented Portchain’s BOE to drive sustainable performance in their transshipment and gateway operations.
