Repeat after me: I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!
I have to ask, because clearly, the more articles and testimonials I read here and elsewhere, the more I think that it's all just mirages, myths and legends...
Question is: in my scenario*, do you think I have a real chance of joining a tracker such as BTN** or PTP** in the coming months or 50 next years...?
(\*) Probably the only ones that might really be worth waiting for and putting in a little effort (and I mean a little: I'll come back to that later...): that's what people say... But I'm also interested in serious (means quality-first) and more open (-lol-) alternatives.*
(*) My scenario is:
I have:
  • 7-year-old account on the local general tracker YGG, with 2TB of uploads, a balanced ratio, but 0 torrents published. Why haven't I published anything? Simply because I only have content that is too high quality compared to what peers are looking for on this tracker.
  • TL account since recently, but one in which I have already invested a lot of time, with over 1TB of reseed and a ratio currently above 4.
  • High-quality content (I won't go into detail here), currently around 100TB.
  • High-performance internet connection
  • Dedicated seedbox backbone, purchased and built specifically for seeding, not for my own DL needs (I don't have automation, so I don't need it for that or any other things).
English is not my native language, and even though I have a good understanding of technical stuff, the subtleties widely used in this field make it extremely complicated to correctly integrate and operate the necessary things (our dear elites may be forgetting that for a moment maybe...).
EOF My Situation
Come on! Let's be realistic for a second, give the truth: YES or NO.
If it's just to hear the mythic sentence "meet trustworthy people and prove yourself", thank you, but there's no point. I've already read that a million times and spent hours and hours of my time on these subjects (and I've heard some real gems of that kind before, I can assure you, like fake "friend" feedbacks and more, god!). I've come to understand that this is the usual cold spiel they give to newbies. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not one anymore since a long time. I have many years of XP in these stuff, principles compatibles (well, I thought...), and quality content that is more than quantity (even if a lot anyway). If that's not enough, then I'm giving up all this for good. Life is too short to waste time endlessly.
Seeing all these newbies racing each other in the r/OpenSignups and other Roman arenas for a few measly invites to apply or even part of info, it's so pitiful that we've come to this. It's like the first hours of opening at Apple Stores on the day a new iPhone is released, no kidding. And what's it all really for? The primary motivation behind all this? Hmm? If it's truly private, then it's truly closed. Let's stop playing the Hunger Games now!
I think it's even easier to join a NEAVY seals unit or NASA these days... Let's come back down a bit to earth now. I already get a lot of quality items and effortless through means other than trackers. So, yes, the "best" trackers are not the promised land, as many people seem to say, but simply a good another tool to grab/share quality stuff as a gateway. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a supplement, and above all a good way to redistribute. I insist on this last point, because like I already said in another topic, I'm so much more interested in giving than taking. But if it means having to k-ss -ss (or worse) some "elite" peoples for years with no guarantee of getting anything worthwhile in return, then I'll keep my archives private, just for me and my close friends (my real ones, yeah). Maybe I will also take this opportunity of this time saved to promote other more open and tolerant networks...
And yes, even if not everyone shares equally elsewhere, because what's wrong with that? Do you think you know what true sharing is? Maybe we need to redefine that sharing means today and what it should be? Whatever, I'm done.
Thank you,
You may proceed.

No. It will take more than 1 year, so more than "months".
or 50 next years...?
Yes. You can go from MAM to PTP in about 2.5 to 5 years, depending which route you take.
For MAM to BTN, the quickest route is a little less than 2 years and the longest route is about 5 years.
All the information is spelled out clearly on https://invite.icu/
Start by joining MAM through the interview process: https://www.myanonamouse.net/inviteapp.php
It's extremely easy. Just be polite. Read (or at least skim) the rules before taking the interview. It's an open book test, so you can refer to the rules during the interview.
Give short, factual, concise answers to the questions. Don't go off-topic. Don't speculate. Don't give your opinion. They are just asking you to confirm you know what the rules say. Treat it like a test you'd take in school where the teacher is looking for one specific answer - the right answer - and will be annoyed if you add unnecessary information or stray from the one right answer.
Also, as I said in another comment, I think for most people, for most practical purposes, Aither is roughly the same level of quality as PTP or BTN. The path from MAM to Aither is only 6 months. So, that journey you could make in a matter of months.

I mean it won’t be easy. There are pathways through tracker forums. Just find the site that shows the pathways and do that.
Why must you share only on the top of the top? Why not become a part of a community in a mid level tracker? You’ll have more to upload there anyways. You’ll be 1000x more helpful filling out mid level trackers than you will be on something like PTP. I know being a part of the most exclusive clubs feels good, I get it, but honestly I find I get a lot of joy off of getting “thanks” on uploaded torrents and being active in IRC in mid levels. At the end of the day trackers are primarily community tbh. At least imo.

Why the top of top? Because you already have plenty of poor and crap that's easy to find everywhere!
I want to try to up the level at my humble level.
For the rest, I agree, except that these "middle-range" trackers have no value in view of these tier 1 trackers to get in...
Too, the objective is to distribute widely, preferably on trackers with many users (tier 1 or not), but which still prioritize quality in their policy. That's why I don't share torrents on YGG, because there are no rules in this regard. And TL is pretty much about quality or middle-range of this, but doesn't allow torrent posts so easily, so there's no point.

Mid tiers will have more users than T1/cabal. Why not shoot to join something like Aither or BLU or similar? Those all have high quality standards and Aither you can get into in just a few months (6 months if starting at 0) and they have an amazing community.

I'm going to explore this way, even if it seems like a lot to ask for this tier level. I may be underestimating the potential of some of these mid-trackers. I'm waiting to see more, and we see...
Thank you ;)

I think Aither is roughly on the same level of quality for most practical purposes as PTP and BTN. This is for two reasons. First, you can find almost anything on Aither in excellent quality. Second, anything you can't find, you can just request, and probably someone will get it for you. Multiple uploaders on Aither have accounts on PTP and BTN and will cross-upload torrents from there to fulfill requests.
Obviously, PTP has a legendary status for a good reason, but if your goal is just to watch movies, Aither is all you really good.

Yes, reaching so called high tier trackers are hard. Your options are a) get invited by a user b) get an official invitations from other trackers' forums c) be there when there are open signups/applications.
This system might sound unfair, but it's there because it works.
[–]ByteProphet[S] [score hidden]  (3 children)
I cannot guarantee that I will be available for interviews specifics times (and I think a number of people are in the same situation). And for me, especially in English, which is not my native language, as I mentioned earlier. And other options: it's down too for me.
In shorter term, answer is also NO. Thank you.
[–]Nolzi [score hidden]  (2 children)
Don't shield yourself with not being native speaker, you can formulate complete sentences just fine. And if you don't want to take the effort then of course the answer is no. But you already know that, so why this whole post? Just to rant that life is unfair and you cannot get everything you want?

Answering questions live on IRC or other type of live chat channel is nothing like a discussion on a forum...
Do you think that if I wrote this post and spent so much time gathering information, good practices stuff and more, it was just to post this topic on Reddit? For what purpose? Come on!

You are not exactly time pressured for the IRC interviews, and you are not talking with the grammar police there

Was your question rhetorical with the objective of making a slam poetry style mic drop? Am I supposed to snap my fingers?

unless you know someone that is willing to invite you, the only reliable way into PTP/BTN/HDB is via official recruitment: https://www.reddit.com/r/TrackersInfo/wiki/official_recruitments/
If you aren't in any trackers yet that they recruit from, the fastest way is via RED. Yes, it requires 1 year of account age for BTN and 2 years of account age to PTP/HDB, so you won't be able to join them via this route in a couple of months. There are no guarantees that they will still recruit from there when you hit the requirements, but at least these invite paths have been relatively stable and open consistently.

In shorter term, answer is also NO. Thank you.
EDIT: rather than just giving me a -1, explain why you think I have a real chance under the conditions I outlined in my first post. Be constructive or pass. Thank you.

Unless you have a friend who can invite you, you have the same prospects as anyone else on no-movement trackers. Do the MAM interview and start grinding

So, it's NO answer. Thank you.
