Repeat after me: I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!
I have to ask, because clearly, the more articles and testimonials I read here and elsewhere, the more I think that it's all just mirages, myths and legends...
Question is: in my scenario*, do you think I have a real chance of joining a tracker such as BTN** or PTP** in the coming months or 50 next years...?
(\*) Probably the only ones that might really be worth waiting for and putting in a little effort (and I mean a little: I'll come back to that later...): that's what people say... But I'm also interested in serious (means quality-first) and more open (-lol-) alternatives.*
(*) My scenario is:
I have:
- 7-year-old account on the local general tracker YGG, with 2TB of uploads, a balanced ratio, but 0 torrents published. Why haven't I published anything? Simply because I only have content that is too high quality compared to what peers are looking for on this tracker.
- TL account since recently, but one in which I have already invested a lot of time, with over 1TB of reseed and a ratio currently above 4.
- High-quality content (I won't go into detail here), currently around 100TB.
- High-performance internet connection
- Dedicated seedbox backbone, purchased and built specifically for seeding, not for my own DL needs (I don't have automation, so I don't need it for that or any other things).
English is not my native language, and even though I have a good understanding of technical stuff, the subtleties widely used in this field make it extremely complicated to correctly integrate and operate the necessary things (our dear elites may be forgetting that for a moment maybe...).
EOF My Situation
Come on! Let's be realistic for a second, give the truth: YES or NO.
If it's just to hear the mythic sentence "meet trustworthy people and prove yourself", thank you, but there's no point. I've already read that a million times and spent hours and hours of my time on these subjects (and I've heard some real gems of that kind before, I can assure you, like fake "friend" feedbacks and more, god!). I've come to understand that this is the usual cold spiel they give to newbies. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not one anymore since a long time. I have many years of XP in these stuff, principles compatibles (well, I thought...), and quality content that is more than quantity (even if a lot anyway). If that's not enough, then I'm giving up all this for good. Life is too short to waste time endlessly.
Seeing all these newbies racing each other in the
r/OpenSignups and other Roman arenas for a few measly invites to apply or even part of info, it's so pitiful that we've come to this. It's like the first hours of opening at Apple Stores on the day a new iPhone is released, no kidding. And what's it all really for? The primary motivation behind all this? Hmm? If it's truly private, then it's truly closed. Let's stop playing the Hunger Games now!
I think it's even easier to join a NEAVY seals unit or NASA these days... Let's come back down a bit to earth now. I already get a lot of quality items and effortless through means other than trackers. So, yes, the "best" trackers are not the promised land, as many people seem to say, but simply a good another tool to grab/share quality stuff as a gateway. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a supplement, and above all a good way to redistribute. I insist on this last point, because like I already said in another topic, I'm so much more interested in giving than taking. But if it means having to k-ss -ss (or worse) some "elite" peoples for years with no guarantee of getting anything worthwhile in return, then I'll keep my archives private, just for me and my close friends (my real ones, yeah). Maybe I will also take this opportunity of this time saved to promote other more open and tolerant networks...
And yes, even if not everyone shares equally elsewhere, because what's wrong with that? Do you think you know what true sharing is? Maybe we need to redefine that sharing means today and what it should be? Whatever, I'm done.
Thank you,
You may proceed.
