Whenever some big creator gets exposed for being an asshole or whatever and then soon after, plenty of other people come out to share their own experiences or how they knew all along. I often see people ask at that point... "Why didn't anyone say anything sooner?"
The answer is actually pretty simple. It's all in the numbers.
Proof doesn't matter. Evidence doesn't matter. All that matter is that you have enough people who will buy what you're saying. Whoever has the most followers is the one in the right. Quite simple. It's why people keep quiet until the offender in question is getting cancelled.
From personal experience, I know of a couple of Vtubers who from what I have learned and saw myself are assholes and textbook blacklisting meangirls, very much opposed to how they portray themselves publicly. Why didn't I say anything? Two reasons:
Would anyone even believe me? They're bigger, and thus they are right and I am a liar. Many of you no doubt seen something like this happening before. Someone small calls out someone big and gets relentlessly bullied for it. Calling them out would do nothing.
And second... well, I just don't think being an asshole is worthy of a google doc and cancelling someone? If you think it is, like half of your big favorite Vtubers should be cancelled too lol
Why doesn't someone big do that? Why should they? They all benefit from each other while behind the scenes they have their own Backstabbathon Olympics. From what I've seen and heard from people, they make it sound as though most of the people up top fucking hate each other and just constantly talk shit and blacklist each other while smiling at each other and being friends when the cameras are on.
99% of everything going on never goes out into public. That'll ruin their image so we can't have that. It goes public only when it's a guaranteed kill.
So to summarize, small people are overall useless because their word is worthless without numbers and the big people just don't care because they benefit from these business partnerships and they're content leaving the assholes to asshole on and will only do anything when they are 100% sure they can eliminate them completely.
