How to set up your Rakuten Mini

STEP1. Setup instructions

1. 1. Power on your device, select your language, and tap “Start.”

   

2. 2. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to use and connect to it.

   

3. 3. A screen will be displayed, indicating that the update is being checked.
   Please wait until the screen changes.

   

4. 4. The screen for copying apps and data is displayed.
   If you want to transfer data, tap "Next."

   

   If you don’t want to copy, tap “Don’t Copy” and proceed to step 6.

5. 5. The data transfer screen will be displayed.
   Follow the instructions to complete the settings.

   

6. 6. The following screen will be displayed.
   Please wait until the screen display switches.

   

7. 7. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Google account and agree to Google services.

   

8. 8. Review the details of Google services by scrolling down, then tap the “Agree” button.

   

   

9. 9. The screen lock settings screen will be displayed. Enter your PIN and tap "Next."

   

   Re-enter your PIN according to the on-screen instructions, and tap "Confirm."

   

10. 10. The following screen will be displayed.
    Please wait until the screen display switches.

    

11. 11. A screen for speeding up location information acquisition will be displayed.
    Read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, check the box for “Consent to Location Information Collection,” and tap “Next.”

    

12. 12. The eSIM setup screen will be displayed. Tap the "Open app" button.

    

13. 13. The app will launch.

    

14. 14. Please select "Allow" for "Access to device location information" and "Make and manage phone calls" for "my Rakuten Mobile" app.

    

15. 15. The installation screen for the latest version of "my Rakuten Mobile" app will be displayed.
    Please proceed to the next step.

    

STEP2. How to update "my Rakuten Mobile" app

1. 1. On the home screen, tap the Google Play icon.

   

2. 2. Tap the menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.

   

3. 3. Menu will be displayed.
   Tap on “My apps & games.”

   

4. 4. Find "my Rakuten Mobile" app in the list of updates and tap the "Update" button.

   

   Once the update is complete, the "my Rakuten Mobile" app will be the latest version. Please proceed to the next step.

STEP3. Initial setup steps

1. 1. On the home screen, press and hold the button framed in red.

   • * If you are switching from Super Hodai or Combination Plan, or if you applied using "AI Easy identity verification (eKYC)" or "identity verification with documents submitted to the Rakuten Group," steps 1 to 4 are not required. Please proceed to step 5.

   

2. 2. The Google Assistant screen will be displayed. Please tap the part highlighted in red.

   

3. 3. Tap the red frame area to activate Google Lens.

   

4. 4. When Google Lens starts, scan the QR code on the back of the “START GUIDE” that comes with your device. Tap the URL when it appears.

   

   *If the QR code is read correctly, the URL will be displayed. If the URL is not displayed, please try again several times.
   *The magnifying glass icon is the "search function". Please be careful not to press it by mistake when reading the QR code.

   

5. 5. The Rakuten member login screen will be displayed.
   Enter your user ID and Password, then tap “Sign in.”

   • * Even if you see a message saying "The QR code has expired", please launch the "my Rakuten Mobile" app" and follow the next steps.
   • * If you have applied using the identity verification method "AI Easy identity verification (eKYC)" or "Verification using documents submitted to Rakuten Group," please launch the ""my Rakuten Mobile" app" app, Sign in in and proceed to the next step.

   

6. 6. The "my Rakuten Mobile" app will launch and display the home screen.
   Tap on the application number.
